A contemplative mediation to inspire the remembering of your infinite nature. As I walk along my spiritual path it feels as though it is inevitable that I will forget my true nature and remember again many many times. Ram Das, spiritual teacher, psychologist, and author, shared in many of his teachings about the nature of forgetting. He says, "It is fun to forget, because it allows us to remember and remembering is fun!"

Hello,

Welcome to Breathing Alchemy podcast.

My name is Ali Koski.

Today our journey is inspired by the spiritual teacher,

Psychologist,

And writer Ram Dass.

Forgetting is the remembering.

If you've ever engaged in a practice of mindfulness,

It could be through the practice of meditation or yoga or even integrating mindful practices into your day,

And you've likely had the experience of forgetting.

In the practice of mindfulness,

The intention is to stay in the present moment,

To be engaged and fully present with what you are doing in the moment as it is happening.

And in my experience of this practice,

There's many moments of forgetting and wandering off in thought,

Wandering off to another place.

The beauty of the forgetting is that it offers an opportunity to remember and come back again.

What happens that causes the forgetting?

Why do we forget?

Perhaps forgetting is part of our humanness.

Perhaps we are not flawed because we forget,

But rather we are magnificent because we remember.

Let's weave this into our practice today.

Take a deep breath in through your nose now,

And exhale.

Close your eyes.

Remember your breath.

Remember you can use your breath to move your awareness throughout your body.

Remember your hips and your legs,

And follow your breath in to experience your hips and legs.

Now remember your belly,

And follow your breath in to experience your belly.

Remember your two lungs.

Follow your breath in to experience your lungs.

Remember your heart and your arms,

And follow your breath to experience your heart and arms.

Remember your neck and your throat.

Now follow your breath in to experience your neck and throat.

Remember your mouth,

Your tongue.

Follow your breath in to experience your mouth.

Remember your eyes.

Follow your breath in to experience your eyes.

Remember your brain and your head.

Follow your breath in to experience your brain and your head.

Now take a deep breath in and let it all go.

Allow yourself to drift,

To forget,

To just be.

Now come back again.

Remember your breath.

We come in to this world on a single inhale.

And we leave on a single exhale.

There is an intelligence within your breath.

Let it guide you.

Let it remind you.

Allow your breath to teach you how to let go.

Allow your breath to teach you how to receive.

No matter how many times we might forget,

We can remember.

Remember that part of you that is beyond your body,

The space that lives beyond your form,

The infinite inward expanse.

Remember that you are infinite.

Remember you are a co-creator of your life.

Remember how powerful your thoughts and beliefs are.

They are shaping your experience.

They are shaping you.

Remember that just by the pure nature of who you are,

You are a gift to this world.

Remember who you are.

Remember that your soul came into this body to walk on this beautiful earth and to have this human experience.

Remember your soul is always here with you.

No matter how lost or alone you may feel in the illusion of separateness,

Remember your soul knows the way.

Remember you are never alone.

If you forget and get lost,

Go outside.

Put your bare feet on the earth.

Feel the sun on your cheeks.

Breathe a deep breath of fresh air and let it remind you with each exhale that you breathe out.

You are feeding the trees and with each inhale you receive from them.

There is a sacred exchange because you are part of nature at the most fundamental level you belong here.

You are infinite.

May you remember.
