Please begin by moving into a comfortable and supported position for the coming meditation.
Over the course of our meditation journey,
We practice being able to enter a state of relaxation with the body that leaves us free to move ever inward.
Every time we sit down to practice it becomes an easier state to achieve.
Now attuning to the body's five senses.
What do you hear?
Take note of every sound from the most prominent to the most subtle.
What can you see?
Even with the eyes closed,
Is it completely dark?
Can you see faint lines or patterns?
Maybe a sliver of light where the eyelids meet?
What can you smell?
Is there anything caught by the nose?
Incense or a candle maybe?
Maybe you notice your space is devoid of any distinct smell.
What can you taste?
Maybe there's a faint taste left over from breakfast or lunch,
Coffee,
Tea,
Or even from brushing your teeth.
What can you feel?
Notice where your body connects to the floor,
How your clothes feel on your skin,
And any other feelings of touch you can take note of.
Moving from the external to the internal.
Our focus shifts to the flow of our breath,
To the movement,
The sound,
The feel,
Even the energy it carries.
As we continue to point our focus in this direction,
Everything else becomes softer.
Outside distractions slowly dull,
Walking our mind now toward its creative potential.
In your mind's eye,
Picture yourself sitting atop the summit of a mountain,
The highest one in the mountain range that surrounds you,
So high you are above the clouds.
Stretching as far as you can see is a magnificent blanket of clouds below you,
With the occasional peak reaching up through them ever so slightly.
You would expect a great wind to be blowing up so high,
But the air around you is serenely still and quiet,
Peaceful.
To the touch,
The air is just cold enough to raise goosebumps on your skin,
But before you the sun is blazing in the sky,
Bathing you in wave upon wave of brilliant golden light,
Warming the soul.
Up here,
The worries of the world you come from do not exist.
The causes of stress and anxiety we encounter have never touched this place,
And in that knowledge,
We find solace.
For a time,
We are able to escape all of that and just be.
Just be with the beauty of ourself and with the beauty of a world that has been here and will be here long after we leave.
You you begin to move from inward back into the space around you take notice of the flow of your breath and the movement to create some body feel where your body connects to the floor and let all the sounds outside you enter back into your awareness as Ralph Waldo Emerson said adopt the pace of nature her secret is patience I hope to share this practice with you again soon for wherever we are in meditation we are connected om shanti shanti shanti namaste
