This guided meditation is about finding connections between the human experience and the natural world. In yoga, there are five winds of the body. They govern different areas and different physical and subtle activities. The natural phenomenon of the wind is associated with a whole host of different things. In this guided meditation I aim to tie the two together, trying to push the creativity of what a guided meditation can be.

Take a moment to move into a comfortable meditation position,

Suited to you and how your body feels in this moment.

Knowing for the next little while,

We have nowhere else to be but here,

Present,

With ourself.

On our next inhale,

We ground down through our seats and into the earth.

Using our exhale to lengthen up through the spine and out the crown of the head,

Reaching towards the sky.

Again,

Inhale deep and completely,

Filling all the way into the bottom portion of the lungs.

On the exhale,

Imagine all remaining tension being carried away with the breath.

Take a final moment here to bring the hands,

Palms facing up on the knees,

If they aren't already.

Awareness to the breath,

To the subtle feeling in the nose as air moves gently in and out of the body.

Focusing on this feeling and aiming to slow down your breath over time.

Along with this feeling,

We can take notice of the distinct sound of the breath as well,

If you can hear it,

For sometimes it is silent.

Finally,

The movement in the body,

The abdomen expanding and contracting,

The chest rising and falling.

All of these aspects associated to the breath are direct ways in which we can feel one of the Vayu's of the body.

Vayu meaning wind.

There are five winds of the body.

They govern different areas and different physical and subtle activities.

The Vayu's reflect our natural subtle rhythms.

When they're functioning harmoniously,

They assure the health and vitality of the body and mind.

So as we continue to focus on our breath,

This wind,

The prana Vayu,

Let's begin to look at how this can connect us to the natural phenomenon of wind and the qualities it brings.

Wind brings with it complete feeling of freedom.

We cannot see the wind nor hold it in our hands.

Wind cannot be captured and wind cannot be tamed.

Instead what we can see is the ripple on the water,

Fallen leaves dancing in a circle,

Dust swirling across the path or how it flows through someone's hair.

Wind represents a playfulness that can assist you in connecting with your inner child.

Wind as the spirit or soul stands for completeness,

Peace,

Tranquility and the contentment to simply be.

Wind carries with it air and therefore life and energy.

It is the natural flow of the universe.

The wind of the world ultimately connects to the winds within our body.

With this connection we can manifest these feelings.

Feel free to repeat after me internally.

I feel free like the wind.

My spirit cannot be captured nor tamed.

My inner child is happy.

I am at peace and content with who I am.

I move with the natural flow of the universe.

As we move into silence,

Know I will be here to bring you back when it is time to move on.

Slowly release the practice.

Let the events of the last little while fade with the sound of the wind.

If you know where to look,

Nature provides us with an abundance of things that can be used to find moments of peace among that which brings us unease.

You need only remember they are there.

Thank you for spending this time with me.

I am truly grateful to be able to share this meditation with you.

Until next time,

And with love,

Namaste.
