Welcome.
Please find a comfortable position,
Placing your hands gently in your lap and closing your eyes.
In this moment,
Go within to that place of inner stillness where we experience our connection to the true self.
Allow yourself to fully arrive.
Let go of all effort,
All thinking,
And begin to notice the natural inflow and outflow of each breath.
With each inhale and exhale,
Allow yourself to become more relaxed,
More comfortable,
And more at peace.
Now that you have settled into the present moment,
Become aware of your direct experience,
The various sensations of sound and breath,
Of touch and smell.
In this meditation,
We are not seeking answers.
We are simply entering the space where answers are no longer needed.
Silence is not an absence.
It is the presence beneath everything.
As Rumi teaches,
This silence is not empty.
It's a living presence,
A doorway to the core of life itself.
We are not here to fill the silence,
But rather to be filled by it.
Let's step gently into that quiet space now.
I will be reading various quotes written by the Persian poet and mystic himself to assist us with growing in our intimacy with the beauty of silence.
Treat all sounds that you hear the same as fluctuations of consciousness.
Simply witness what arises with curiosity,
Non-attachment,
And non-resistance.
Let your breath soften.
Let your body rest.
Begin to fall inward into the quiet behind sound,
Into the space behind your thoughts.
Rumi once wrote,
I quote,
Let silence take you to the core of life,
Unquote.
Allow yourself to follow that invitation.
Inhale,
Exhale.
Gently descend into the stillness inside of you.
I quote,
Silence is the language of God.
All else is poor translation,
Unquote.
As thoughts arise,
Let them drift like leaves floating down a river.
No need to chase them.
No need to hold on to them.
You are entering the sacred space of no words where the divine waits for no introduction.
I quote,
There is a voice that doesn't use words.
Listen,
Unquote.
Can you sense it?
The hum beneath everything?
The quiet presence that asks for nothing,
Yet simultaneously holds everything.
Be still.
I quote,
The quieter you become,
The more you are able to hear.
Unquote.
With each breath,
Take a step deeper into awareness,
Into communion with something infinite and yet so deeply intimate.
Rumi reminds us,
I quote,
This silence,
This moment,
Every moment,
If it's genuinely inside you,
Brings what you need,
Unquote.
Let yourself be held by this moment.
There's nothing you need to figure out.
Silence is not empty.
It's full,
Full of wisdom,
Full of love,
Full of the divine.
I quote,
Only let the moving waters calm down.
And the moon will be reflected on the surface of your being,
Unquote.
Be the still lake.
Let your breath ripple out until even that stills.
Rest in the inner hush.
I quote,
I closed my mouth and spoke to you in a hundred silent ways,
Unquote.
In this silence,
You are not alone.
You are seen.
You are heard in ways deeper than ears can register.
Let yourself be spoken to,
Not with language,
But with presence.
I quote,
Stop weaving and see how the pattern improves,
Unquote.
Let the mind's grasp gently unweave.
Be here in the tapestry that is making itself.
Here,
Even your questions fall silent.
Because you are the answer you've been seeking for all along.
I quote,
Be silent.
Only the hand of God can remove the burdens of your heart.
Unquote.
Surrender them now.
Your worries,
Your stories,
Your striving.
Place them gently at the feet of the silence.
Let them go.
And now,
Merge.
I quote,
In the silence between your heartbeat,
Bides a summon.
Do you hear it?
Unquote.
Just rest here for a few breaths.
In stillness deeper than thought.
I quote,
Let silence be the art you practice.
Unquote.
Carry this silence with you,
Not as a thing to hold,
But as a way of being.
Begin to gently return.
Returning to the environment in which you began this meditation today.
Wiggle your fingers.
Feel your breath deepen.
Perhaps roll your shoulders softly.
When you are ready,
Allow your eyes to open.
Let this stillness walk with you into the world.
As a sanctuary.
As a guide.
As the presence of the beloved.
Thank you so much for meditating with me today.
May the silence continue to speak to you in the spaces between you and the world.
With these 15 words,
Much love,
Peace.
