In this session we explore the difference between looking and really seeing. Our world is dominated by images, but seeing is a function of the heart and our whole being, rather than of just the eyes. Open yourself up to being a companion to the world rather than a simple observer. This peacebeam can be used individually or as one day of the Begin Bright series.

Hi,

Welcome to Peacebeam.

Let's begin.

Step one,

Notice.

Just take a few moments now to check in with yourself and ask yourself,

How do I feel today?

How is your mood,

Your emotions?

How are you feeling?

And just notice.

Step two,

Breathe.

Just rest your attention now on your breath.

And as you continue to breathe,

Normally just start to notice your breath's natural rhythm.

The movement of your inhale and your exhale.

The rise and fall of your chest.

And just be here now for a few moments,

Breathing.

And now just imagine that your breath is moving in and out of your heart.

Allow the rhythm of your heart and the rhythm of your breath to connect to each other.

And as they connect to each other,

They invite you to let the day fall away.

And just for these few moments,

Drop in to the rhythm of you.

Step three,

Activate.

Today we're going to consider the difference between looking and seeing.

Our world now is dominated by the visual.

Endless images,

Photos and videos stream through our days on every device,

On every screen.

More than ever we live in a world that is designed for the sighted.

But how much do we actually see?

Whether we're sighted or not,

To really see the world,

To really see another being,

Is a function not just of the eyes but of the heart,

Of the whole of our being.

It is a most mysterious thing.

When we really see another,

We respond in a way that we do not when we simply look.

When we really see we are no longer an observer,

An observer of the world,

We become a companion to the world.

So allow this to settle in for you today,

That you're going to see,

Not just look.

You are going to be a companion to the world today,

Not just an observer.

Step four,

Beam.

So as you connect to your incredible capacity for seeing the world,

Allow the energy of companionship,

Of kinship,

Of belonging,

Of connection to living beings,

To permeate the atmosphere around you.

And for today,

Don't look,

Just see with your heart and bless everything that comes into your line of sight with the warmth of your smile.

Have a beautiful day.

I just love the sentence: "Companion To The World", that you so lovely put it, in today's meditation. πŸ€πŸ•ŠοΈ More than ever in today's world, do we need to send out a bundle of love, kindness, and compassion to our kindred Souls of Brothers and Sisters. Thank you Peacebeam, for this reflective insight and gentle reminder to us all, in becoming a companion to the world by seeing each other in a loving way. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ€

Here I thought I'd listened to every one of Jane's postings at least twice, and there was this undiscovered beauty lying out there. Splendid, as always.

"Companion to the World"; what a beautiful concept and a perfect theme for me today as I find myself navigating airports on a rare (for me!) travel day. For this day amongst the masses... and the week I'll spend in my old hometown (mom's 90th b-day) I will truly see with my heart and be part of the flow of the Universe. Thanks and Blessings to you!
