Hello and welcome to Methods,

An exploration in guided prayer and meditation.

My name is Jane and today's Method is Divine Alchemy Meditation.

The premise of Divine Alchemy is that you,

As a spirit in material form,

Possess the power and ability to transmute or redeem all forms of suffering into Divine Love through the vessel of your body and the intention of your breath.

For those of us who recognize Jesus as a great spiritual teacher,

We might note His example as the ultimate alchemizer of suffering into love.

In this meditation,

We draw on Jesus' promise that we will do even greater things than He,

As conduits of the Holy Spirit which perpetually transmutes pain into love so long as we open our hearts to the possibility.

In practice,

The Method goes like this.

I will invite you to breathe in an idea of suffering,

A concept contained in one word or phrase,

Such as the word fear.

Allow any image to arise which is sparked upon hearing this word and breathe it in as deeply as feels safe for you.

Allow yourself specifically to notice the sensation in your body as you consider the concept of fear.

Hold the suffering within you at the location of sensation for two or three breaths.

Let it enter you deeply and then imagine a literal conversion process in which the fear is alchemized into Divine Love.

At my invitation to breathe out,

Release the Divine Love as the very breath from your body.

Imagine the possibility that you have literally completed a chemical reaction in which an instance of suffering gave way fully to love.

In today's practice,

We will work with redeeming our perceptions of separateness.

We will linger with each idea for three or four breaths.

So let us begin.

Find a comfortable seat and allow the shades of your eyes to close.

Soften your eyes in your sockets.

Relax your jaw and all the muscles of your face.

Soften into your seat.

Release any tension in your shoulders or down your back.

Let go in every way you can from your collarbones to the bowl of your pelvis.

Now,

Simply notice the sensation of air as it moves in and out of your nostrils.

Become very aware of the movement of your breath as it fills and empties your body.

Take two more long,

Deep breaths.

The next time you inhale,

Breathe in the feeling of isolation.

Breathe out.

Locate the feeling in your body.

Breathe deeply into the space of isolation within you and allow the sensation fully.

Breathe out.

Inhaling deeply,

Let divine love rush in and dissolve the isolation.

Breathe out.

Inhale the dissolution of isolation.

Pause at the top of your inhale.

Breathe out divine love.

Breathe in divine love.

Breathe out divine love.

The next time you inhale,

Breathe in the feeling of loneliness.

Breathe out.

Locate the feeling in your body.

Breathe deeply into the space of loneliness within you.

Allow the sensation fully.

Breathe out.

Inhaling deeply,

Let divine love rush in and dissolve the loneliness.

Breathe out.

Inhale the dissolution of loneliness.

Pause at the top of your inhale.

Breathe out divine love.

Breathe in divine love.

Breathe out divine love.

The next time you inhale,

Breathe in the feeling of loss.

Breathe out.

Locate the feeling in your body.

Breathe deeply into the space of loss within you.

Allow the sensation fully.

Breathe out.

Inhaling deeply,

Let divine love rush in and dissolve the loss.

Breathe out.

Inhale the dissolution of loss.

Pause at the top of your inhale.

Breathe out divine love.

Breathe in divine love.

Breathe out divine love.

The next time you inhale,

Breathe in the fear of death.

Breathe out.

Locate the feeling in your body.

Breathe deeply into the space of fear within you.

Allow the sensation fully.

Breathe out.

Inhaling deeply,

Let divine love rush in and dissolve the fear of death.

Breathe out.

Inhale the dissolution of death.

Pause at the top of your inhale.

Breathe out divine love.

Breathe in divine love.

Breathe out divine love.

Breathe in divine love.

Breathe out divine love.

Soften the muscles of your faith.

Relax your jaw.

Put all your attention now to the soles of your feet.

With your feet planted on the ground,

Recognize your union to the earth.

Beginning in the arches of your feet,

Notice the warm vapor of God's love starting to fry.

Drop your breath as low as you can,

Breathing this love of vapor up,

Up to your knee,

Up to your pelvis.

Breathe it up to the arc of your ribs.

Feel the space of your heart.

Breathe God's love into your throat.

Feel it enter your nostrils and fully consume your mind.

Take one more long deep breath.

Any sense of separation is an illusion.

Every divine love is real.

Breathe in divine love.

Breathe out divine love.
