Spiritual Exhaustion
by Lauri Albert
Being spiritually exhausted is real. We try and we try to be the right kind of person. As spiritual beings, we work hard to live, think, and act how we think is correct. However, sometimes, we get to a point of fatigue. Giving our minds a break from trying so hard is truly what we need to rejuvenate every aspect of our person.

Namaste everybody!
Welcome to In the Flow with Lorie Albert.
I want to start right in today with a quote because this quote,
Oh my gosh,
Today's sort of conversation before we get into the meditation is like it could be a little bit controversial.
Gosh,
I've been saying that a lot lately,
But okay,
Here's the deal.
Okay,
So here's the quote.
I've had some coffee.
Pardon me.
Okay,
This is a Wayne Dyer quote.
Okay,
This is what he said.
Your highest self is not just an idea that sounds lofty and spiritual.
It is a way of being.
I love that.
Okay,
And it continues.
It is the very first principle that you must come to understand and embrace as you move towards attracting to you that which you want and need for this parentheses of being.
The parentheses of eternity that we know as your life.
Okay,
So basically what he's saying is that spirituality is a way of life and we have to embrace it so that we can get what we want and need through our life.
Right?
I was continuing that thought in my head of like,
My God,
That sounds like exhausting.
Doesn't it?
Like it's a way of life and to some people I will say that comes naturally.
Being spiritual and all that that entails comes naturally.
Right?
But what about for the people that it doesn't exactly come naturally to and that are trying really hard to be the way that they want to be in the world,
Blah,
Blah,
Blah.
Right?
I have to tell you,
And this is not,
This does not apply to everybody,
But I have to tell you this applies to me.
I get spiritually exhausted sometimes and when I say that,
What I mean by that is,
Is that we try and we try to continue on through like life and in this way of like I try to be good.
I try to think the right thoughts,
Do the right things,
Be the right person,
All of that stuff.
Right?
And sometimes it gets overwhelming because we put pressure on ourselves to be the right person,
Say the right things.
We put pressure on ourselves to be that way.
Right?
So it creates an exhaustion.
And this is not everybody.
And this is my opinion and my opinion alone.
If you vibe with this,
I'm like,
Great.
But here's the thing.
We try so hard to be and sometimes it comes naturally.
There are some days when I just feel the Zen and I feel it flowing through my bones.
But then there are other days when I feel like I am trying for every second of being what I'm supposed to be in the world.
And here's the thing.
I think it's all okay.
It's all okay.
It's okay to be tired.
It's okay to be feel great.
This is us having the human experience.
Right?
This is our spiritual beings having a human experience.
So we take with it as we work towards enlightenment.
We take with that whatever we can get.
Right?
So I wanted to talk about one or two things that we can do when we feel that exhaustion of trying to be the right person,
Trying to say the right things,
Trying to be kind and all the time and trying to think those great thoughts.
Because I have to tell you,
Especially now,
I'm having problems with that.
Right?
I mean,
I like I can't even tell you guys how many times I type this whole scathing thing on Facebook like,
Oh my God,
Oh my God,
Oh my God.
And then I like look at it and I think,
Oh,
That's not very enlightened.
No,
Is it?
That's not very positive and up and happy.
So I delete it.
Right?
We all are works in progress.
And I think that's really important to remember.
It's really important for us to remember.
So here's one of the thing that you can do to help yourself know that you're human.
Know that you are human and that it is OK to be who you are.
It's OK to recognize that we are having a human experience here.
Right?
If you need to sage,
Sage your space.
That actually really helps.
That helps me so,
So much when I just sage just even a little bit.
It like and I just let it burn.
There's something that clears it clears the stuff out.
Right?
And then the third thing is just allow yourself to go do something that you like.
If you enjoy movies,
Go to see a movie or in the case of lately,
Just watch one on TV,
Even though you know you're supposed to be doing other things or take a walk or God forbid.
Have a shot of tequila or something.
Do you know what I'm saying?
I mean,
Like in it's OK to have a human experience.
And when we get to that point where we are enlightened,
I mean,
Are we ever going to get to the place where Buddha was?
I don't know.
But if I feel overwhelmed and then I start feeling guilty that I'm not more spiritual,
That I'm that I'm you know,
All of that stuff.
Stop feeling guilty.
We have to just stop and enjoy ourselves just for a minute.
I think that spirit would feel like that that was OK.
I really do.
I grew up with so much guilt.
Can't do this.
Can't do that.
Can't do this.
Can't do that.
You know what?
I got to a point.
I'm 55 now,
So I got to a point later,
Later on where I thought to myself finally,
Like,
You know what?
God,
Spirit,
Universe,
Whatever you want to call it,
Loves me.
And if I have a shot of tequila,
It's not the end of the world.
Right.
So we're going to meditate on this today.
We are meditating on being good.
Being ourselves.
Allowing ourselves to be and have that human experience.
As we strive for the spiritual awareness and awakening that we want.
And again,
This is my opinion and my opinion alone,
Unless you all agree.
You can.
That's what I love about.
I love about podcasts in general.
Right.
Is that what you can do is you take what you want and you can leave the rest.
If you don't vibe with it.
I am perfectly fine with that.
You know.
So let's get ourselves comfortable because we are going to meditate.
Let's get ourselves comfortable today.
Sit.
You can sit cross legged.
I know I say this like every day.
Sit cross legged.
You can lay down.
Right.
So gently allow your eyes to float closed.
And let's take a nice deep breath in really slow.
And then release it.
You know,
First thing in the morning,
There is nothing like taking that deep breath in.
Right.
Let's do that again.
Breathe in through your nose really slow.
And release.
Today's mantra.
Is a hum.
Brahmasmi.
I am the divine.
I am Brahman.
We are all reflections of God's spirit universe.
Whatever you want to call it.
We are all reflections of that.
We are all the divine.
So today,
Our mantra.
I want you to take it into your heart and let it sit there.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
We do the best we can throughout our lives.
Throughout our human experience.
We do the best we can.
A hum Brahmasmi.
I will keep the time.
And let's begin.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
A hum Brahmasmi.
Let's start bringing our awareness back to our bodies.
Perfect.
Very good.
Let's take a nice deep breath in.
And release it.
Knowing that we are the divine.
We are also humans.
Having this human experience.
And it's all okay.
When you feel comfortable you can open your eyes.
Very good.
Very good.
Know that as you go throughout your day.
As you try to do your best in the world.
Be the best version of you that you can be.
Know that it's all okay.
You may have errant thoughts.
You may have,
You may make some wrong decisions.
But it's all okay.
Because a hum Brahmasmi.
So,
Thank you so much for joining me today.
I love being here with you.
And have a beautiful,
Wonderful rest of your day.
Namaste everybody.
Take care.
