Good day everybody.

Welcome to In The Flow with Laurie Albert.

Lots to talk about today,

As always.

So over the weekend,

Someone very close to me made a mistake about something.

And there was so much anger attached to this thing that they did by accident on their part.

It wasn't a big deal.

It wasn't like it was life threatening or anything.

It was just a mistake.

But then there was all this anger attached to it.

But then bad things kept happening.

One thing would follow another.

And they weren't big bad things.

They were just things like spilling the coffee,

Blah,

Blah,

Blah.

That sort of stuff.

And when you're not the one going through it,

You can step back sometimes and see.

So as I sort of stepped back,

I could see the progression that was happening.

And there was so much anger attached to it that it was perpetuating more stuff.

And all I could think of was,

And even in the moment,

All I could think of was,

This is so stereotypical law of attraction.

It was stereotypical law of attraction.

Because what happens is,

Is that when one thing starts happening and you keep following it,

It keeps going and going and going and going.

Now,

This is like a negative thing.

Bad things happen,

So more bad things happen.

But it can happen with positive things too.

Again,

When you're not the one in the situation,

You can step back and look at it in a different perspective.

But it reminded me of how I try to deal with when I'm in that situation myself.

Something that happens is bad.

So you fall into this woe is me sort of way of being.

And then more bad stuff starts happening.

But here's the thing for today.

How do we stop the progression?

How do we stop the snowball?

There is a way.

This is something that I have done over the years.

And when I remember to do it,

We're all fallible.

We're all not perfect.

But I've found that over the years,

If I can do these four things and catch myself in that moment,

It stops all of that in its tracks.

So the first thing that we would need to do is sort of step back from the situation.

So when something happens and you feel that anger rise up or you feel like that horrible negative emotion rising up in you,

You're mad that this happened.

If you catch it,

You step back from yourself.

You step back from the situation.

Literally take a step backwards and remove yourself from the situation for just a moment.

Then you look back and you realize your humanity.

We are all at fault.

We all do bad things periodically.

Bad things,

Sad things.

We all do stuff that isn't the best thing occasionally.

We all screw up once in a while.

And then third,

We look for the lesson.

Look for the lesson because there's always going to be a lesson in there.

So while you're stepping back,

Mind you,

If you get good at it,

You can do this in the matter of like a minute.

So you step back from the situation and go,

You know what?

I am only human.

Only human.

Right?

And then you look at the lesson.

You know what?

Maybe I need to be to stay a little bit more present to what I'm doing.

Okay.

So I spilled the coffee all over my white outfit.

Right?

That's not what happened,

But you know,

You spilled the coffee all over your white outfit.

An only human.

The lesson there would be that,

You know what?

Maybe I need to pay attention to what I'm doing a little bit.

Maybe I need to slow down just a little bit.

Right?

So you look for that lesson.

And then lastly,

Number four,

You say thank you to the universe.

And I know that sounds kind of silly.

So what?

Like all this bad stuff happens and you're in this fit of anger and now all of a sudden you're saying thank you.

But if you force yourself to do it,

This is the point.

If you force yourself to do it,

You force yourself to say thank you and to look at all these other things.

It changes things.

It changes everything around everything.

Right?

So,

You know,

Our loved ones,

We can tell them what we think,

But we can't make them do anything.

So this person,

This loved one of mine,

I didn't even bring it up because it wasn't a time,

You know.

Yeah.

But anyway,

That's a whole other show.

That's a whole other show.

But for ourselves,

If we can do those four steps,

We can live so much of a happier life.

Oh my gosh.

Imagine yourself,

You create,

Like there's a bad thing that happens,

Right?

You spill your coffee all over your outfit.

You have to go change.

You're mad.

You're pissed off.

Right?

Imagine if you,

The two scenarios,

You stop yourself and you stand back for just a minute.

You say,

Oh my God,

I'm only human.

It's all going to be okay.

I need to slow down.

Thank you for teaching that to me.

Or you can go about and keep rolling along and still be in a hurry.

Spill more things,

Have a car accident on the way.

Do this,

Do that and all these other things,

Right?

You have a choice.

We all have choices,

Right?

That's like the bottom line.

So what we are going to meditate today on is thank you.

Okay.

It's that simple gratitude.

We are meditating on gratitude today because that's what creates the foundation of having a happy life.

Right?

You know,

I call myself a happy medium because I am just kind of inherently happy.

But I think that part of that is because that I practice gratitude every day.

I woke up this morning and first thing I thought was,

Oh my gosh,

Thank you.

Thank you.

If we create that consistency of feeling gratitude for everything,

For the mistakes that we make for everything,

Then that creates a happier life,

A more content life.

Right?

So let's get ourselves comfortable.

Comfy comfy.

Get ready to meditate.

Okay.

And let's take a nice deep breath in.

Breathe in really deep.

Breathe in slow through your nose and out your mouth.

Very good.

It's like that instant relaxation,

Right?

Let's do that again.

Breathe in really slow through your nose and release.

Perfect.

So as we get ourselves comfortable and ready to sit in the silence just for a few minutes this morning,

Let's consider a few things that we are grateful for.

Maybe you're grateful that you didn't spill the coffee this morning.

Maybe you're grateful for the wonderful night's sleep that you had.

Maybe you're grateful for the beautiful weather.

Maybe that your headache is gone that you had yesterday.

What are you grateful for today?

So our mantra for today will be thank you.

I want you to look at yourself in the mirror during the throughout the course of your day and just say thank you.

You will be so surprised today.

So I will keep the time and as we go through our meditation today just keep saying to yourself over and over thank you.

This is the beginning of your practice of gratitude.

Gratitude for the life that we've been given.

Gratitude for our friends and family.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Take a nice deep breath in.

Beautiful.

So cleansing.

So thank you for joining me today.

Open your eyes,

By the way.

Whenever you feel comfortable.

Thank you for joining me.

I appreciate each and every one of you.

And Namaste to you all.

Namaste meaning the divine in me sees and recognizes the divine in you.

Namaste everybody.

Have a beautiful day.
