I'd like to introduce what I think is a very beautiful meditation.
It's a little different doing it as a recording rather than live either online or in a physical meeting,
But if we believe that we are in virtual time when we go into a meditation,
We are able to connect with others even though they may not be there as it were in the same linear time.
This is a meditation that I call One Spirit Connection.
If you have a faith tradition,
Whatever that is,
Then you may wish to relate to whatever is most meaningful for you in terms of this description of the divine,
Of source,
Of connecting with everything that is.
If you don't have a faith tradition,
Then please just sit with the intention and you should be able to engage with the meditation just as easily.
Let's start by arriving wherever we are at the moment.
If it's safe,
You're able and it feels comfortable,
You might like to gently close your eyes.
Take a moment or two to find your ground,
What it is that anchors you,
Gives you a sense of connection with the earth,
Connects you with your core.
Try if you can to keep your focus on that area and may feel like a particular area in the body.
For many people it's usually in the core sacral area,
But you may find the sensation,
The sense of where that is,
Being in a slightly different place for you.
And let's just in silence hold attention on that place just for a minute or two,
Letting any distracting thoughts or distracting sensations just pass,
Coming back to focusing,
Feeling into this point of connection,
This safe place where you feel most grounded.
And the practice is to recognize that each breath that we take connects us with everybody else and indeed every living thing on this planet.
The air that we breathe forming the protective blanket that covers our earth.
And as we breathe in,
Just remembering that connection and being grateful for the gift of life that it provides.
If it's meaningful for you,
Thinking of this connection with every in-breath as a gift from the divine,
From God,
From source,
From spirit.
You may prefer to describe this as receiving a gift of sacred breath,
Holy breath,
What in one of the ancient sacred languages Aramaic is called Ruka de Kusha.
In Hebrew Ruach HaKodesh.
And as we will for a connection with the divine for receipt of sacred breath,
Letting that just fill us,
Coming into our lives as a free abundant gift with every intake of breath,
Asking if you will to receive what is holy,
What is sacred,
Or what is healing,
Pure,
Refreshing,
Restoring,
Making whole,
If those words sacred and holy are less meaningful for you,
Asking to be blessed.
Receive this light,
This benevolence,
This precious gift in every breath that you're taking right now.
Let this breath reach down deep into your core to that point of anchoring,
And fill every part of your torso,
Expanding into your chest,
Embracing your heart.
And when you're ready,
Turning attention to others who may not be in this meditation right now,
But who have been or will be at some future point.
Remembering that in this space where we are now,
Time actually has no meaning,
And we can connect with people who we may never have met physically in this lifetime,
But who too are sharing this same breath,
Enjoying this experience of receiving.
And while you may not be able to see faces or hear voices,
Believe that these people are there,
Believe that there is this community of people there.
And with each out breath,
Now turning your attention to giving something of this beautiful gift that you received back to each of those people.
Imagine as you breathe out that you're sending light and love to them.
This same holy breath,
If you want to use that term,
This same benevolence that you've received,
Being passed back,
And so moving into a gentle flow where every in- breath is a memory of the gift of life given to you,
A refreshing,
A renewal,
Letting that to settle within you,
And with every out breath giving back something of that gift to others,
Wishing them well,
Wishing them to be blessed,
To be filled with love and light,
Just as you are.
And now coming to realize that others are sending that same energy,
That same will,
That same intention back to you,
For they too are receiving as they breathe in and returning as they breathe out.
And in turn we are connecting.
We are all enjoying this cycling of breath even though we may be in very different and distant physical locations.
What we are giving back and what we are receiving from this impossibly large ocean of light and benevolence is connecting us.
The unseen breath,
Much like a spirit or a ghost if you prefer,
That is performing transformative and vital work that keeps us alive and keeps us connected.
Let's take a moment just to be grateful for that,
A simple but awesome reminder of this great mystery that's happening every moment of the day even though it may often be far from our attention.
Let's enjoy this moment of coming together,
Of connecting through what we are feeling and through knowing that the very act of breathing connects us with all that is.
When you're ready very gently beginning to return,
To become aware of sounds in the background,
Sensations you may be experiencing,
Slowly becoming more aware of where you are physically right now,
Allowing that awareness to grow and when you're ready very gently opening your eyes and coming back into the present space.
Thank you,
Go well,
Stay safe.
