Today's meditation is a deep self-care practice.
Isn't it interesting that we ask other people all the time how they are,
How are you,
How are you,
And yet we often forget to ask ourselves.
It's like we don't even have the time.
However,
Making it a daily routine to ask yourself first is a wonderful self-care practice.
You so easily can make part of your morning routine.
It doesn't need to take long,
But it could have a profound effect on your day.
So let's meditate.
Go ahead and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and notice that peacefulness between the out-breath and the in-breath.
Then allowing the breath to flow in and out of the nose.
It can be powerful in this meditation to put your hands over your heart as you take the next breath in and ask yourself,
How am I?
And then just listen.
Notice what words and thoughts appear.
How am I today?
What feelings are present?
If it's a light and happy thought,
That's wonderful.
Just sit there with that beautiful thought for a moment.
If it's a slightly sad or overwhelming thought,
Ask yourself a second question.
What do I need to do for me today?
An act of self-care.
To be kind to myself.
What can I do for myself today so that I am okay?
And then just listen.
Sometimes it's simply go a little slower.
To take 10 minutes for yourself.
To do this meditation twice.
To go for a walk.
Whatever it is to you,
Just listen.
Just honoring yourself in this moment.
Knowing that it's your right to look after yourself first.
Filling up your own cup first.
Feeling like a bright light is entering from the top of your head,
Flooding through the body.
Helping you re-energize.
Balance.
Just bathing in that light.
And then when you're ready,
Go ahead and take a deep breath in,
Sealing this meditation.
Coming back and opening your eyes whenever you're ready.
Thank you for meditating with me today.
