Hi,

It's Brooks and it's good to be here with you.

Today we're going to talk about being comfortable with yourself.

I think being comfortable with yourself is the best feeling that you can have.

And it's interesting that there's so many obstacles to being comfortable with yourself out there in the world.

We're pretty much raised with the idea that we're not enough,

That we need things to be okay.

We're constantly seeing commercials,

Marketing that tells us the reason that we're not enough.

And that when we get this thing,

Everything's going to be great.

We're going to feel fulfilled.

And that message is repeated to us over and over again,

So we can't help but start believing that we're not enough.

And that we need more to be better.

And then we're in that constant search.

And even though we do get things into our lives,

There's still that feeling of,

There's not enough,

I'm not enough.

So essentially we're never comfortable with ourselves.

So I thought it would be great to talk about this.

To talk about what it would mean,

What it would be like to be comfortable with ourselves.

To call the other idea,

You know,

The idea that we're not enough,

Into question and say,

Is that really true?

What would happen if we're okay as we are right now,

Regardless of what's happening in our life?

What would that feel like?

Imagine right now,

Like no matter what's happening in your life,

Personally,

Out in the world,

Around you,

Physically,

Emotionally,

Whatever pains you have in your life,

Pleasures,

With everything going on in your life,

What if you were comfortable with as you are right now?

That doesn't mean you would never do anything to take care of yourself or,

You know,

Do anything to help yourself out if you can.

But right now,

You know,

If you're,

What would that be like to be comfortable as you?

To not have to have anything added to your life.

To be comfortable with yourself.

It's worth thinking about.

Even spiritually we can start to think,

I need to be more compassionate,

I need to be more forgiving,

I need to be enlightened,

I need to,

There's a multitude of things that we think we need to be spiritually in order to feel,

In order to be comfortable with ourselves.

But really a lot of times we're really whipping ourselves to try to become some conceptual idea of what we consider to be great or perfect.

And the problem with constantly feeling like I need something to be better,

I need to have this in my life,

To be better,

To be okay,

Then nothing's ever going to do it for us because we're constantly in that feeling of we're not enough and that we need to continually add things to be at an okay level,

At a wonderful level.

But again,

What if we're okay as we are?

What would it be like to be comfortable as we are right now at this moment?

Comfortable with ourselves.

Things are going to change,

Pain's going to come,

Pain's going to go away,

Pleasure's going to come,

Pleasure's going to go away.

Things that we like and love are going to break or they're going to be removed from our lives.

New things that we like and love are going to come into our life.

Things are going to be constantly coming and going.

And how we feel physically is going to be constantly changing.

And the amount of money that we have in our life is going to change.

Money's going to come,

Money's going to go,

Money's going to come,

Money's going to go.

We can feel healthy one day,

We can feel sick the next day.

Healthy,

Sick,

Back and forth.

So what if we're comfortable with ourselves as we are,

Regardless of whatever's happening?

What would that be like?

It's worth just thinking about that and considering that.

I don't think that we should ever try to make ourselves become something,

Even trying to make ourselves comfortable with ourselves would go against this whole thing.

So there's an openness here that we're talking about.

An openness to feeling comfortable with.

Maybe we're irritable or maybe we're feeling antisocial in the moment.

Or maybe we're feeling jealous about something.

Or maybe we're really tired.

Maybe we're feeling scared.

Or maybe our foot hurts.

And yet we can still be comfortable with ourselves as we are.

This is how I am right now.

This is what's happening to me right now.

Nothing ever stays one way forever.

Things are constantly changing.

But I would love to feel comfortable with myself as I am,

No matter what's happening.

Because the idea of it is very sweet.

It's very kind.

So imagine how that would feel.

Feeling comfortable with yourself.

Without having to have a particular thing be happening.

Or to own a particular thing.

Or to be a particular way.

Maybe you get some of those things that you want.

Fine.

Maybe you don't get some of those things that you want.

Fine.

It's that comfortableness with your you-ness.

With your being aliveness.

With your existing in the world.

Being comfortable with yourself.

So as with everything I talk about,

It's nice to think about this and then to let it go.

And that gives it a chance to sink into your heart.

And evolve in a natural way for you.

And I wish you the best with this.

And take care.

I really enjoyed this. Can I ask you a question? What if I start to feel OK with myself but I feel like others around me like family are not and think I should have more because they say I am smart,etc.?...... Simple yet perfect explanation. You are right! Thank you
