So just settling in,
Allowing the body to settle down,
Letting go of unnecessary tensions in the body whenever you notice them,
Often in the shoulders,
The arms,
Hands,
The muscles of the face,
Letting the muscles around the eyes be soft,
Letting go of any unnecessary tension there as well,
Letting go of any unnecessary effort in the way you're paying attention,
So with the eyes soft you can simply let your attention be open,
Relaxed,
Receptive,
So that the whole body can come into awareness effortlessly,
And sometimes there's physical discomfort present in the body,
So let's see if you can just be at peace with that,
Adopt the attitude that it's okay for physical discomfort to be there,
It's not an enemy,
It can help to think of physical discomfort as being like a friend who's going through a difficult time,
You wouldn't want to banish them or make them go away,
You'd probably just want to be a compassionate,
Kind presence for them,
You'd allow them to be there with their discomfort,
So in the same way you can allow your discomfort to be there,
And if there's any emotional discomfort present,
Just recognizing that,
So for example there might be confusion about whether you're doing this right,
Or maybe anxiety,
Maybe something from the past is triggering a feeling right now that's uncomfortable,
So just noticing those feelings,
Treating them as if there were any other sensation,
Just allowing them to be,
Letting ourselves be at peace with discomfort,
And if you notice anything going on within the mind that is not of the nature of peace,
Like resistance,
Or worrying,
Or wishing for your basic experience to be different,
With the eyes soft,
Just letting go of those activities,
Just letting go into peace,
So for the next couple of minutes,
Just continuing to make sure that the eyes are soft,
Just sitting with your experience,
And allowing yourself to be at peace with it all.
