Hello I'm Beverly and this practice is about something many of us find surprisingly difficult receiving not grasping or accumulating but simply allowing life to support us to let good things in and to notice what is already here.
If you have spent a long time believing you have to earn everything or that receiving makes you selfish this practice might feel a bit unfamiliar that's okay we're going very gently so let's begin by finding some ground begin by settling into your body feel the support beneath you maybe you just push your feet more firmly into the floor or press your body more firmly into the bed or the chair wherever you're lying or sitting .
Notice that support and feel the steadiness of this moment.
So abundance is so often spoken about as something we chase or create but true receiving begins with safety when the body feels safe openness becomes possible and just know that truth for a moment bring your attention back to the breath.
Allowing it to be natural breathing in and breathing out finding a rhythm that is smooth and calming for you soothing for you.
So receiving isn't passive it's actually a very subtle opening like allowing your shoulders to drop or letting someone else hold the door it's in the exhale after holding your breath that is what we are practicing here with our nervous system just exhale.
So imagine life offering you support nothing dramatic nothing overwhelming but in small quiet waves you might imagine the support arriving like warmth or like a gentle light simply like ease.
Picture yourself standing or sitting with open hands not grasping not reaching just open.
Open hands but not empty hands notice what is already there the air on your palms that slight pulse in your fingertips.
The warmth abundance first shows when you notice what is all ready here.
Because abundance is a feeling it's a state of being.
So just notice any sensations that arise as you imagine receiving is a tightness or softening or is a resistance.
All of it is welcome.
Receiving does not make you selfish.
Receiving makes you responsive to light.
So with each breath gently repeat inside of yourself it is safe for me to receive.
It is safe for me to receive.
It is safe for me to receive.
You may notice parts of you that are unsure that learn to survive through effort or through control.
Meet those parts with kindness with compassion those parts kept you safe.
So let abundance be something that meets you naturally through ease through support through moments of flow.
Rest here breathing allowing.
And maybe you might want to say to yourself with your hand on your heart I am a conduit of abundant flow.
And just let that sink into your cells and every fiber of your being.
I am a conduit of abundance flow.
Notice how that lands.
Often listening to this.
You might notice opportunities to receive for example.
You may deflect normally you may deflect a compliment or an offer of help a moment of ease.
Your only job is to pause.
Before saying no.
Just pause.
In that pause.
You can make a different choice.
You can allow.
The pause allows abundance to practice itself through you.
And as this practice comes to a close.
Just notice what feels even slightly different within you.
There's no need to hold on to anything.
Simply allow the effects to continue in their own quiet way.
If you are returning to your day do so gently.
And if you are resting or drifting into sleep.
Allow yourself to remain in this softened state for as long as you need.
Thank you again for sharing this time with me.
I'll be here when you want to practice receiving again.
Go well.
