Take a deep breath in,
Exhale and let it all go.
Let's do that one more time breathing in and let it go.
Do you ever come across an idea that suddenly explains everything?
Well or almost everything.
For who can explain a platypus?
This happened to me recently.
I was reading about what our minds can do to us and this person used the word interference.
As I thought about it I realized what he was saying is it isn't that our thoughts are bad,
It's more that they run interference.
If you've ever watched football you might know that one of the calls a ref can make is pass interference and this is any act that significantly hinders a player's opportunity to catch the ball.
So this might be putting your hand over their eyes or holding on to their arms whatever.
How does this relate to our thoughts?
Our thoughts can become a hindering of opportunity when we are in play.
Simply put with our thoughts we make it harder,
Much harder on ourselves and others.
Another place this can be seen is in Kurt Vonnegut's short story Harrison Bergeron.
The story is set in a dystopian future where everyone is equal.
Well that sounds great but to make it a reality people who are beautiful must wear ugly masks and people who are intelligent must wear contraptions on their heads and those contraptions play loud and horrifying sounds so the people can't think too many thoughts.
The main character Harrison is a stunning example of athleticism and he must wear 300 pounds of junk all over his body to make him equal to everyone else.
This stuff literally weighs him down making it harder for him to function.
I won't ruin the end of the story for you but if you had something strapped onto your head that made it hard to think hard to function wouldn't you want to rip it off or if you had all kinds of junk weighing you down wouldn't you want to be free from it?
Our thoughts can be just this kind of interference or intermeddling.
Our thoughts can start to pick at us non-stop and that can make it so hard to function.
More than that interfering can often be an interfering.
How often do we let fear of what might be get in the way of what is?
What can we do about this?
It'll come as no surprise.
We can practice.
Practice witnessing,
Observing,
Being like an impartial ref.
We want to allow our mind freedom.
The freedom to pay.
To get out there unburdened,
Unweighed down and see what might happen and if our minds start to interfere or inner fear we throw up a flag and blow a whistle.
Hey nope not gonna allow it and then we set the play in motion again and again and again and when we can do that we can move toward freedom and lightness and this full joy of seeing just what we are capable of without our normal junk weighing us down.
Breathe in.
Breathe out and let the junk go.
Breathe in.
Breathe out and let the fear go.
Breathe in.
You are strong and light and ready to play.
Breathe out.
Ready.
Set.
Go and live light and shine.
