Thank you for joining me today for this guided meditation on gratitude.
I'm Kate Louise from Kate Louise Yoga and I believe this is a time we're being called to be very gentle with ourselves and to reawaken our heart's wisdom.
And we can do this through gratitude.
It is often our gratitude practice that can be a bridge or a door to open more love into our lives.
More joy,
More compassion,
More kindness.
So let us begin by closing your eyes and taking a few breaths to sense yourself taking seat or lying down.
Either way,
Observe yourself coming into stillness.
Bring your mind and your body and breath to this moment.
As you breathe,
You may notice how you can use your breath to draw your attention more and more inward.
And perhaps you can consider taking a few deliberately slow long breaths in through your nose,
Down into your belly,
And sweetly up and out,
Out through the nose or out through the mouth.
A long breath in and let it go.
A slow breath in and let it go.
Feel the generosity of your own attention washing over you.
And as you continue to breathe,
I want you to think about your morning and upon waking anything you were grateful for.
It could be small,
Like grateful to breathe.
Breathing.
It could be that you're grateful for a clean,
Soft bed to sleep in,
To wake up in.
It could be that you're grateful for a delightful pet,
A dog or cat to love,
To cuddle with.
Let no thing be too small.
Imagine coming back with your breath to each item you found useful.
Each person you're grateful for.
Each habit or ritual or practice of your morning that you've cultivated.
Illuminate and bring more light to anything that comes to mind.
And perhaps you even draw your attention down into the organ of the heart.
Or more metaphysically into the heart space.
Notice and breathe.
Soften the surrounding tissues that support your heart.
And notice anything that invokes a feeling of gratitude.
And closing your practice,
Placing a hand over your heart,
Or bringing your hands to prayer with a soft smile.
May we begin to observe how our gratitude practice is a loving act of tending to ourselves,
Our own hearts,
Our own minds.
And may our gratitude practice not only benefit ourselves,
But each other.
And in gratitude,
Thank you for practicing with me today.
