Dear mamas,

Mamas-to-be,

Welcome to today's meditation which I am calling Mama Metta meditation.

So it's inspired from the buddhist tradition,

These metta meditations,

Metta meaning loving-kindness.

They are meditations of love,

Compassion for all beings of the world.

And so today we will focus and direct this energy of metta to all mamas together.

So of course we cannot start to give love to others if we don't first have this love,

Enough love in our cup which is filled,

Enough love for us,

For our very own being.

So our metta meditation begins with us.

So we come to a position in which we feel relaxed and held and comfortable.

It can be sitting,

It can be lying down,

It can be sitting in a very relaxed way.

Simply find what is most comfortable for you today.

Make sure you're warm.

Cover yourself with a blanket if you need to and close the eyes.

Close the eyes and relax the whole body.

Relax the mind and relax the heart.

And simply come into this space of your own heart,

Bringing your awareness there and rooting yourself there.

And we begin to feel our hearts,

To listen,

To bring to ourselves compassion and loving-kindness,

To give ourselves softness and sweetness and love.

We often forget to do that.

We're often really good at giving this to the people around us that we love and care for.

We forget that our most precious relationship,

The first relationship we have,

Is with ourselves.

And we need this love too.

We need this care,

This attention.

So giving ourselves all this right now.

Love for your body,

Love for all your qualities and even all your failings,

Unconditional love towards yourself,

Mama.

Towards all the hard work,

Love,

Compassion,

Forgiveness.

You can forgive yourself all the things that maybe feel painful about yourself.

Love,

Forgiveness,

Love,

Softness.

And staying rooted in the heart,

Feel the love in the heart start to grow,

Start to be activated.

Feel the heart soften and open gradually.

Love,

Love,

Love,

Focusing on that energy only.

It might be hard sometimes to really feel it.

It might feel a little burdened or heavy or closed even.

So if that's the case,

Again,

Be soft with yourself.

Just that is an act of love.

Allowing this energy to grow,

To vibrate stronger in the heart.

We give ourselves this prayer.

May we be at peace.

May we be healthy.

May we be happy.

And allowing this love to grow beyond the boundaries of the heart,

Which has no boundaries.

We direct this energy,

This loving,

Divine,

Bright energy down to our babies,

To our wombs.

We send the love there to our babies,

Showering them with love.

Maybe here it's easier to feel if it wasn't so before.

Love to our babies,

Strength and trust to our babies.

May you be at peace.

May you be healthy.

May you be happy.

Sending them this prayer and our love.

Knowing that they are bathing in this energy right now,

Feeling us.

Then letting this love overflow beyond the boundaries of our body.

Way beyond.

And sending this love,

This vibration,

This beautiful energy to all mamas who are pregnant right now.

To all pregnant mamas.

Sending them our love,

Our trust,

Our strength,

Wherever they may be in the world,

Everywhere.

Whatever trimester they're in,

With small bellies,

Big bellies,

Almost can't move anymore bellies.

To all pregnant mamas.

You know,

You see them and you send them this love,

Trust and strength.

And this prayer.

May you be at peace.

May you be healthy.

May you be happy.

We see you.

And now to all mamas who are giving birth right now in this very instant.

While you meditate,

There are mamas all over the world who are giving birth,

Who are living the most incredible,

Powerful,

Crazy moment of their lives maybe.

To all mamas giving birth,

You can visualize them.

They might be in the hospital.

They might be at home.

They might be on their way to the hospital.

They might be in their gardens,

In the forests,

Wherever these moms are.

Sending them our love,

Our strength and this trust.

They can do it.

Sending them this trust and this power.

And this prayer.

May you be at peace.

May you be healthy.

And may you be happy.

To all the mamas in labor.

These courageous mamas.

And now expanding our vibration of love to all the mamas in existence.

All the mamas who have children wherever they may be in the world.

There are so many of them.

These beautiful,

Courageous mamas that are raising the children and are caring for them,

And worrying for them maybe,

Who are loving them,

Who are giving themselves to them.

All these mamas doing this incredible work that so often goes unacknowledged.

All these generous,

Courageous mamas.

We send you our love,

Our strength and our trust.

May you be at peace.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

And to all the mamas in labor,

And to all the mamas who came before us,

Maybe the ones from our own lineage,

Sending them our love,

Our acknowledgment,

Our gratitude,

And feeling our vibration of love so strong,

So wide,

So wide,

Connected to all these mamas.

We are not alone.

We are a huge tribe.

So in remembrance of that,

We close this Mama Metta meditation.

May all beings be happy.

May all beings be healthy.

May all beings be at peace.

Aum.

Shanti.

Shanti.

Shanti.
