Welcome to this DementiaCare partner centering meditation.
When you have a moment where there are no safety concerns for yourself or anyone else,
Begin.
Close your eyes.
Inhale until your belly expands.
Hold the breath for four counts and release it for six.
Envision yourself giving a gift.
The person receiving this gift is you.
Receive it gratefully.
Give yourself this gift of time to center yourself during your day of providing care to another.
If you're standing,
Sitting,
Or laying down,
Bring your awareness to the areas of your body contacting the floor.
Nothing needs to be done.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold,
And release.
Feel the sturdy floor beneath you,
Supporting you.
Bring your awareness to the room you're in.
Become aware of the temperature.
Become aware of the sounds in the room.
Become aware of the amount of light or darkness.
Become aware of any scents or smells.
Let your awareness pass through your body.
If you're experiencing any pain or discomfort,
Take a moment to reposition or relieve it if possible.
Envision yourself in the room.
Speak the following phrases out loud or in your mind to yourself.
May you be happy.
May you be free from suffering.
May you be safe.
May you experience the deep joy of caring for another.
May you experience the satisfaction of being the protector of another vulnerable person.
May you experience gratitude for the opportunity to give care to another.
May you remain aware of the passing waves of thoughts and emotions throughout your time of caring for another.
May you experience peace as you gift your time,
Energy,
And attention to another.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold,
And release.
Now envision the person you care for today.
Speak these phrases out loud or in your mind on their behalf.
May you be happy.
May you be free from suffering.
May you be safe.
May you receive care without feeling the need to apologize,
Knowing how deeply valuable you are.
May you experience the comfort of knowing you're protected and cared for.
May you experience gratitude for all the times you were able to care for others while now receiving care from another.
May you enjoy your moments of awareness.
This moment.
And this moment.
And this moment.
Envision this person smiling.
Envision embracing this person and laughing deeply.
Envision a world where all people receive the care they need from care partners who treasure caring for them.
When ready,
Allow yourself to come back to the room you're in.
And gently open your eyes.
Thank you for meditating with me.
Please consider donating some of your abundance in order to make this world of vibrant care a reality.
Thank you.
