The “fully” in fully present means totally, entirely, in the sense of wholeness. A wholeness that is beyond any category. A wholeness of heart, open to everything, resisting nothing. This kind of wholeness cannot be expressed in words, it cannot be understood by the calculating brain. Yet it can be truly realized, truly lived.

While sitting in meditation,

Continuously reconnect with the body and the breathing.

Lay all your energy in the body posture.

Let it be graceful.

Sit in dignity with a straightened back,

While relaxing all unnecessary tensions in the face,

In the shoulders,

The chest and the belly.

Use the breathing,

Especially the out-breath,

To let go of the stress that builds up in daily life.

Through embodied awareness,

We can find back our natural state of being and become fully present.

The fully in fully present means totally,

Entirely in the sense of wholeness.

A wholeness that is beyond any category.

A wholeness of heart,

Open to anything.

Resisting nothing.

This kind of wholeness cannot be expressed in words.

It cannot be understood by the calculating brain.

Yet,

It can be truly realized,

Truly lived,

By getting fully absorbed in the right posture and the right breathing.

Now,

Possibly the analytic,

Discriminatory brain may start thinking what needs to be done to reach that right posture and that right breathing.

That mental functioning of the brain is our human condition.

In daily life,

It is rewarded.

But in meditation,

We decondition ourselves from such mental functioning by becoming fully present to the living reality of the moment.

When we become fully present,

There is nothing to reach,

Nothing to gain.

As it is already there,

This state of wholehearted consciousness is not something that can be named or labeled because it is beyond every mental category.

We cannot grasp it.

Yet,

It is entirely in our capability to realize it here and now.

Simply by letting go of that analytical mind,

That calculating mind,

The mind that looks for a particular result.

By letting go of the mind that has an idea about how the body should be,

What it should look like,

What it should feel like,

Or how the breath should be.

If we let go of all expectations about our body or about our breathing,

We can completely surrender and embrace reality as it is.

That is,

Letting go of our personal ideas,

Our projections that stand in the way of realizing a reality in harmony with all that exists.

This living in harmony with all that exists is the sense of the Buddha's words when he awakened.

He said,

Now I realize truth.

Together with the great earth and all sentient beings,

Such realization is possible because there is no separation anymore.

It's the realization of wholehearted oneness with all that exists.

If we can experience ourselves as being entirely part of the universe,

Then there is nothing missing,

Nothing short,

Nothing too much,

Nothing to regret,

Nothing to be anxious for.

Then we can simply be naturally happy,

Fulfilled,

Wholeheartedly.
