I recently lost my mom to Alzheimer's Disease. To witness the pain of the long slow decline right along side her, as well as being a caregiver, is a different kind of grief. It can be very isolating and traumatic. It's difficult for others to understand who have not been through it, how much of a toll it can take on you. If you are in the trenches right now - or have been, or will be if you have gotten a diagnosis - I hope sharing a small part of my journey can give voice to the mixture of emotions - the feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, fear, frustration and sadness - that comes along with it, and can help to ease your path.
