Good morning.
If you're listening to this,
It means you've most likely woken up recently.
I hope you slept well and feel ready to step into your day with fresh eyes.
It's possible you're still waking up,
That you feel groggy and that you're not quite ready to welcome the new day.
But here's what I know.
The best you can do is just to be present.
Wherever you are,
However you're feeling,
And allow your day to unfold however it's going to.
Every day is an opportunity that has a unique meaning for everyone.
So let's consider for a moment,
How is today a new opportunity for you?
I want you to begin with your breath.
Let's take a few deep breaths,
Imagining that each inhale is re-energizing your body.
Kind of like stepping out into the sunshine first thing in the morning.
Breathing into your belly and then letting that breath go.
One more breath here and out again.
And then letting the breath settle into its natural state as it does.
Your body knows just what to do,
So just allow the breath to balance.
Just a gentle,
Natural pace in and out of the nose.
My favorite thing to do when I wake up in the morning is to open the curtains in my home to let the light in.
I want you to take a stretch similar to opening the curtains.
Stretching your arms just above your head and pushing them out to the sides.
Just waking up your body a little more here.
You can take that stretch a second time if you like,
Lengthening your legs in a stretch while you do it.
For those of you who have a tough time with mornings,
I find it helps me when I set an intention for my day.
An intention is like a goal or an aspiration,
Something to look forward to or to reach towards.
It could be something as simple as a word like gentle,
A reminder to go easy on yourself and be compassionate towards others.
Or it could be a little more complex,
Like to be more present today.
Your intention could be either of my suggestions or something that's coming to you right now.
Whatever it is,
I invite you to say it to yourself a few times each time on an inhale.
Breathe that intention deeper into your body and let it settle in for the day.
I want you to focus back on just your breathing again.
The breath is the core energy and often many of us forget to really and truly breathe through the day.
Deep energizing breaths become the last focus when they should really be the first.
So I want you to be fully aware of the action of breathing,
Everything it involves,
Down to the details,
The air flowing in through your nose,
What point the air hits inside the nostril.
Whether the breath feels cold or warm or both,
The sound your breath makes when you release it arise and fall of the belly.
How calm your body feels,
Paying attention to the details of your body breathing.
Tah Fire.
Here's the honest truth.
It can often feel so easy to begin your day with tension and worry and overwhelm.
It's no secret that our world is strained and heavy right now,
And to follow that energy takes less effort than changing directions and shifting our own consciousness away from the collective.
Choosing a more aligned path with yourself and others takes time to learn and foster when you've seen more of the opposite.
So here's a suggestion for you today.
Choose softness instead of hardness.
Choose movement instead of stagnation.
Choose love instead of fear.
Allow that to sink in for a moment.
What does that feel like to you,
Choosing love over fear?
If it causes tension,
Can you ease into the idea a little more using your breath?
Can you open your heart to the opportunity to release anxiety and trust that love can exist for you if you allow it?
You're loving yourself right now simply by giving your body time to rest.
You're nourishing yourself by doing intentional breathing.
You're already choosing love over fear.
As we come to the end,
I want you to remember your intention.
Hold it close today.
Allow it to be a reminder to breathe and soften.
And most of all,
Please remember,
Today is a new day.
Every day is an opportunity.
Take your time coming back to the space,
Waking up your body a little more,
Easing into your day a little more,
Stretching a little more if you like,
Opening your eyes when you're ready.
I'm wishing you the very best today.
I hope you'll come back soon.
Till then,
Take care.
