So Hum has a very special place in Vedic Philosophy. It helps us to appreciate that we are infinite souls living a time bound existence. It takes our minds from a constricted to an expanded state of awareness through a very simple and gentle mantra. In Vedic Philosophy So Hum means 'I am one with the Universe' - reminding us of the source of our existence. So Hum reminds us we are all connected to universal energy, it tells us that we are supported, nourished and guided by the universe. Reminding us that we come from source energy and that we are all one. In this profoundly calming practice, simply breath in and out to So Hum, So Hum, So Hum.

Hello and welcome.

I'm Aisha and I thank you for choosing me to be your guide in today's meditation.

So hum has a very special place in Vedic philosophy.

It consists of two Sanskrit words.

So meaning that and hum meaning I.

The literal translation of so hum is I am that.

In Vedic philosophy that is the universe.

So hum means I am one with the universe.

So hum takes our minds from a state of constriction to a state of expanded awareness.

So let's find a comfortable seated or lying position.

And if you haven't already done so gently close your eyes and relax.

Now observe the in and the out of your breath.

The gentle rise and fall of your chest.

Now without trying take one breath in and silently say the word so.

And as you breathe out say the word silently hum.

Gently and silently repeating the mantra without forcing your breath.

Gently breathe in so and breathe out hum.

So hum.

So hum.

So hum.

If your mind wanders just gently bring your awareness back to your breath and the so hum mantra.

Silently repeat so hum.

So hum.

So hum.

I will keep an eye on the time as you silently and gently repeat so hum.

So hum.

So hum.

So hum.

And now as the mantra ends you can simply allow the calm and peace to wash over your body and mind.

And gently put a hand on your heart or in a prayer position and give yourself thanks for honouring yourself today.

And when you are ready gently open your eyes and get back to your day.

Thank you.
