So we've discussed a lot of different ways to disrupt yourself in really small ways in daily life,

Which are like putting a monkey wrench in the mechanical river of ordinary life.

And the best way to disrupt yourself is whatever way works for you that helps you to get to the background of awareness.

You know,

You're putting a monkey wrench into the mechanical river and sometimes that monkey wrench you'll want to be big like maybe a day of fasting or not speaking,

But more often than not you'll want it to be really small like focusing on your body in some way.

And from that slight disruption it can be easier to then say,

Well,

What's this appearing in or what's noticing this.

So earlier we talked about this method I called slowing and as I'm talking about now I'm going to slow down 15%.

So it shouldn't be something that other people would immediately notice unless you're talking about it,

But it does require like reining in a fast-moving horse for me.

So as I talk 15% slower it gets me off the tracks and from that I can more easily realize that there's something in the background here which is aware of my slowing.

Now there's different ways to slow and in fact as I'm talking to you now try to do this method.

Now it's best to be doing this method when you're in some way moving.

So if you're driving,

If you're careful you can slow your vehicle down 15% and it really involves always making tiny shifts because our mechanicalness will bring us right back to our normal speed or you might slow down too much,

You know,

40% or go to 10% but you're aiming for like just a 15% slower.

So by staying as true to the 15% slowing mark you can do that in almost any situation of which there's any movement in your body.

For example,

I'm doing it now with my talking.

I could also do it with how fast I'm driving but you want to maintain being safe.

You could do it in how fast you eat,

How fast you clean your room,

How fast you even type on your keyboard when you're doing email,

It's how fast you walk to your car.

It can be used in so many different places.

There I just speeded up a little bit so that reminded me to go back to the 15% and from there I do the what we called the Awareness Two Step of saying well what,

Notice that.

And so it's like putting a monkey wrench in a well systematized machine and every time you trip over your little monkey wrench it gives you an opportunity to be the background of awareness or to ask what's noticing.

So my hope is that you'll practice this method and play with it,

You know,

It's a game that is really the master game because if you can interrupt your mechanicalness and get back to awareness you'll have more peace,

More joy,

And in my opinion you'll be a better servant of humanity in whatever capacity that you currently are living in.
