
Virgo New Moon Solar Eclipse Ritual Meditation
This Virgo New Moon Solar Eclipse invites us to steady the mind, release old thought patterns, and realign with healthy habits that truly nourish us. With the Sun, Moon, and South Node all in Virgo, we’re called to let go of the belief that things must be perfect and soften into a greater vision. Through breath, gentle somatic release, and guided reflection, this meditation helps you transform old ways of thinking, release self-criticism, and open into the balance of Virgo’s discernment with Pisces’ flow. Nourish your nervous system as you embody Virgo and Pisces, attuning to the intuition of the heart and the wisdom of the mind.

Hello and welcome to this meditation practice for the Virgo New Moon Solar Eclipse.
So this Virgo New Moon is unique in that it is a solar eclipse.
This means the south node,
The moon,
And the sun are all in the same sign of Virgo.
Virgo is a mutable earth sign that is associated with healing,
Health,
Organization,
Perfecting,
Having ideas,
Communicating because it's ruled by Mercury.
So there is a mental level to Virgo as well.
What the south nodes and north nodes are,
Are orbital points on the sun and moon's path.
So when they all align,
They create this eclipse effect.
And for this practice,
We won't be taking time to set any intentions like we normally would on a new moon.
Because eclipses can bring ominous,
Turbulent energy,
It's more a time to release,
Especially with the south node.
The south node represents our karmic past,
What we are meant to let go of collectively right now in this moment in time.
It can also be a great time to set intentions around releasing unhealthy habits like smoking or trying to eat healthier or doom scroll a little bit less.
I invite you to start this meditation with a comfortable position.
Finding this seat or this nice long spine,
You can lay down,
You can recline.
If you're seated,
Making sure that your hips are comfortable,
Creating a nice long channel from your tailbone up to your spine.
Just taking a moment to settle in,
Making sure that nothing in your body is bothering you.
And if it feels safe to you,
Closing your eyes or softening your gaze.
Beginning to relax the body by softening the shoulders,
Softening both sides of the neck,
Unhinging the jaw slightly.
Softening the face,
Broadening the eyebrows,
Tapping into your intuitive knowing,
Relieving any tension at your third eye.
Softening the casing around your brain,
Feeling the thoughts begin to slow down as you take three big deep clearing breaths to ground into your meditation practice,
Into this solar eclipse in Virgo.
So start by taking a deep inhale through the nose,
Filling up the belly,
Filling up the chest,
Maybe even filling up the mind and taking a big exhale to clear.
Another big deep breath in,
Take up space within your body and exhale big sigh out.
Another big deep breath in,
Hold it in at the top,
Spend a bit of time feeling fully oxygenated.
Then fully exhale to release,
Allow your whole body to ground into the earth,
Virgo as this mutable earth sign.
Grounding,
Practical,
Analytical,
But feeling the steadiness of the earth but also the changeability of the earth as it rotates beneath you.
To settle and embody the energy of Virgo,
We'll now move into a practice called cranial release.
So because,
As I mentioned earlier,
Virgo is very much ruled by Mercury,
The planet that rules the mind,
The planet that is all about intellect,
We will balance this energy by practicing cranial release.
So this is a vagus nerve exercise that involves bringing your thumbs to the inner corner of your eyebrows.
Allow your head to fall into your thumbs,
Relieving any pressure there.
Once you feel like you can let your head be heavy into your thumbs,
Use the rest of your fingers to rest at the center of the forehead.
And then begin to squeeze the fingers in slightly,
So as if you're pinching this area from the midsection of your forehead down towards your eyebrows.
Just take a few moments to close your eyes,
Breathe through this release,
Dumping any and all mental pressure and tension into your hands,
Into your fingers.
Now gently take a deep breath in again,
Just noticing how your mind feels in the last few moments of this cranial release.
And as you exhale,
Gently lift the head slightly,
Release the hands from your eyebrows.
As you bring the head up,
Pause,
Take a breath and just check in with the nature of the thoughts within your mind.
And whenever you're ready,
We're going to do another mental release technique that is called an occipital release.
So the occipital bone is at the back of the head.
Oftentimes when we work with the mind,
We think about what's happening above the eyebrows.
At the base of the neck,
Right before our hairline turns into our neck,
We can hold a lot of tension here as well,
As gravity tends to dump this mental energy here at the back of the head and then it travels through the rest of our body.
So for this occipital release,
I invite you to take your thumbs and rest them on the back of your skull.
This should be about midline at the middle of your head.
If you're having trouble finding it,
Start by tracing your thumbs at the back of your ear and then following the ridge of your skull along the back.
Once you feel a spot that feels good,
It shouldn't pinch or hurt at all.
Once you feel like you've found a sticky spot where you'd like to apply tension to,
Bring both thumbs there.
Maybe your elbows come out wide a little bit and then see if you can encourage your head to lean back into your thumbs this time.
Feel all this Virgo tendency to overthink and over-activate this mental activity.
Allow all of that energy to dump into your thumbs once again.
Remember to keep a few steady breaths as you continue with this occipital release.
Allowing the mind to fully clear from the front and the back all throughout.
Gently release the hands from the back of your head.
Set them down in your lap or in any relaxed position.
Bring your head back to neutral and take a few slow,
Steady,
Natural cycles of breath.
Now I invite you to recall a way of thinking or a thought that you used to have that you no longer currently have.
You may have grown out of this way of thinking as life unfolded,
Or this is a way of thinking that had to shift in order for you to move on.
It can be something as grand as the way you used to view yourself or self-worth,
Or it can really be something as small as your opinion on oat milk.
With this clarity in your mind,
Take a moment to comb through the recesses of your mind and find an old belief that you have laid to rest back there.
Now notice how your body feels once you've recalled that old belief that you now have brought to the forefront.
Notice how it feels in your body as it responds to this old thought.
Does it feel unnatural?
Do you now feel completely neutral towards this thought that you used to feel so strongly about?
Does it feel lighter in your body having moved on from this former belief?
Hold on to this neutral or light feeling after you acknowledge how your body responds to this old thought that you used to have.
This old belief that is now completely transformed or dissipated.
Now realign your awareness to your life presently.
What thoughts around your current health,
Habits,
Relationship to perfection,
Details,
Or organization are you ready to transform or release?
Perhaps you wish to stop doomscrolling,
To crave more nutritious foods,
Or sink your cycle if you have one.
Be really honest with yourself and start by bringing just one of these thoughts to mind.
Then come back to the feeling in your body of neutralizing this thought.
How would it feel in your body to transform or completely release this thought just like you had done in the past?
Maybe to get there,
You reflect on where the judgment is coming from around this thought.
Where is the inner criticism stemming from?
Use that previous feeling in your body from releasing an old way of thinking to this current thought you wish to release.
Connect with your breath and simply sit with how your body would feel once you release this thought around any of those Virgo themes.
Health,
Habits,
Perfection,
Or details.
Now envision the Virgo new moon in its darkness sitting at your heart.
Feel the Virgo sun glowing over your head,
Absorbing your past,
Current,
And future mental thoughts with its golden light.
As the solar eclipse approaches,
The sun arcs down to meet the new moon at your heart,
Creating this bridge between head and heart.
Infusing the intelligence of your mental thoughts with the intuitive wisdom of your heart.
You feel your heart begin to magnetize into the direction you are meant to go with the pull of the sun,
Moon,
And north node.
Letting those parts of the south node,
The Virgo side,
Go.
The south node softens Virgo's tendency around the how,
As this draw towards the north node in Pisces helps you lean into the Pisces level of faith in the greater vision.
Relax in stillness,
Connecting to this peace in your heart,
This balance of mind and intuition as you allow this greater vision to unfold however it is meant to.
Begin to radiate gratitude to the solar eclipse that is happening under all of our skies right now.
The sun and moon's alignment on each of their orbital paths,
Forming this portal to align us on our own destined path.
Send gratitude to this alignment for providing opportunities to move towards our destined path by offering the chance to really shed and let go of the old to prepare for the new.
As you're ready,
Once you feel complete with your meditation practice,
Gently align your awareness to your breath,
Breathing back into the physical borders of your body.
Breathing back into the space you take up.
Closing your meditation practice for this Virgo solar eclipse by placing one hand on your third eye and one hand on your heart.
Feeling the bridge between sun and moon.
Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,
Option to bow in gratitude.
Begin to softly open the eyes again,
Pause and take in your environment and then journal on any insight that you received.
