During the pandemic period, we may face different emotions, such as fear, anxiety, and worries. It is hoped that "deep breathing" could help us to take a deep breath and accept emotions and feelings. Research has shown that taking a deep breath can reduce the level of anxiety (Khng, 2017).

Transcript

A mindfulness exercise for relieving exam stress.

During this mindfulness exercise,

We will focus on being mindful,

Finding that spot where you are completely aware of the now.

You can now gently close your eyes,

Breathe in through your nose,

And breathe out through your mouth.

Breathe in,

And breathe out.

Wherever thoughts come and go in your mind,

At this point,

Simply observe them.

As if from a distance,

See them as they colour the balloons separate from you,

And let them go.

Let them float away.

You are present now.

You are not controlled by your thoughts.

You can acknowledge that they are simply that's thoughts.

Be conscious of the beads of blood within you.

Be conscious of the rhythm of your breathing.

Feel the surface of which you sit,

And how your body presses into it.

Be aware of any scents that you can smell.

Notice the details in the sounds you are hearing.

Feel the temperatures of the space you are in.

Spend some moments simply being.

Being aware of all that is within you,

And around you right now,

In this very moment.

Now,

You can gently open your eyes,

Stretch your body,

And feel refreshed.
