This meditative journey is inspired by the fixed water sign of Scorpio ruled by Mars and Pluto.

In Western astrology,

Scorpio is the eighth sign represented as a scorpion.

The glyph looks like a curved letter M with an arrow pointed tail.

Scorpios are born between October 23rd through November 21st.

This date fluctuates annually by a day depending on which day the sun enters Scorpio,

Known to be one of the most determined signs of the zodiac.

Scorpios will go at great lengths for what they set their minds to do and will accomplish their goals.

If you're curious about Scorpios look to the mysterious eight-legged arachnid with two claws and a venomous stinger that represents Scorpio,

The scorpion.

The scorpion symbol is found in mythology,

Folklore,

Art and in modern day logos and brands.

With its origin going into antiquity with astrology from the Scorpius constellation for the legend is of the giant scorpion who battled its enemy Orion,

The fearless hunter who vowed to kill every animal until he met his match when the giant scorpion stung Orion.

This legend relates to the planet Mars which rules Scorpio.

For Scorpio's bravery and standing up to protect all the animals,

Gaia awarded Scorpio with a constellation which we can see in the night sky during summer months in the northern hemisphere then drifts south for winter and spring season,

Appearing to go beneath the earth much like a scorpion would in life.

The scorpion symbol can be seen into antiquity symbolized as a form of protection and can be found woven into Turkish prayer rugs.

In life and in legends,

The eight-legged courageous and powerful creature is close to the earth and symbolic of the fluctuations of water.

This earth connection also connects Scorpio to the root chakra relating to reproductive organs where all life springs forth,

Where we were born,

Where the Kundalini serpent resides.

Our root chakra is where we release and receive in sexual contact and release bodily fluids when we expire in the form we currently are.

Scorpio is one of the most passionate signs of the zodiac and very private,

Intuitive.

They are loyal and can be stubborn like its opposite which is Taurus.

Scorpio goes deep and they make excellent researchers which are willing to go where others would be too afraid to tread.

Let's not forget the stinger and the pincher claws which can come out in the forms of jealousy or the desire to take control of matters.

All is connected as above so below.

Scorpio rules the eighth house in western astrology which represents death,

Sex,

And money.

These concepts may be a driving force for some,

Taboo for others,

Or bring up insecurities or curiosity for those who want to dig deeper into understanding these attributes and discovering their transformations.

Scorpio is home to the shadow work with the help of the planet Pluto,

The planet of creation and destruction,

Death and rebirth.

Scorpio corresponds with the death card in the tarot of the major arcana,

The 13th key on the tree of life,

13 representing death to matter and rebirth to spirit.

The card is known in its esoteric title as the child of the great transformers or the lord of the gate of death depicted as the skeleton with a scythe,

The handle which harvests crops and the symbol of time.

The skeleton of death is similar to what is depicted as the grim reaper.

In the writer weight deck,

Death is represented as a skeleton wearing knightly armor riding upon white horse symbolizing purity raising a black flag with a five-petaled white rose representing beauty,

Immortality,

And as a bloom buds so does wither and fall to the ground and rise again.

Something to note,

The knight is similar looking to the knight of cups card but a skeleton again the passing of time from youth to beyond life.

This card is not to be feared instead it is seen as an illuminating moment to release,

To surrender and face the inevitable but there is no true ending simply transformation of matter.

Life and death are one and the same.

Radical transformation and depth is the archetype of the energies of Scorpio and the death card.

There is no avoiding change,

Shifts of season,

Changes in people,

Within ourselves,

In places and material concerns.

Death is not the end,

It is a transition from what appears and transforms matter into another form of energy like the atoms we are all formed of or the ancient star elements which were once in space.

Those same elements can be found in our bodies from the course of billions of years spanning across multiple lifetimes of stars.

There is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist meditation known as the eight phases of death which helps prepare oneself to navigate the dying process in a calm and aware state.

If this interests you please refer to the Tibetan book of the dead translated by Robert Thurman.

In the practice of yoga,

The Shavasana is known as the corpse pose which is symbolic of death and prepares us for the practice of death.

Today's meditation will be on the practice of releasing anything no longer serving you,

Perhaps letting go of a habit or any self-sabotaging thoughts,

Anything you wish to unburden yourself of or simply to be with your breath in appreciation for the gift of life your breath brings you or to grieve what weighs heavy on your heart.

Tears come,

It's the transformation of release.

During this meditative practice be gentle with yourself and go where you feel comfortable with your practice and please resource yourself for what is best for your self-care needs.

With this practice you may lie down in Shavasana or you are welcome to sit up in a relaxed upright state with feet connected to the ground.

Please gather what you will to equip yourself for your personal journey,

Perhaps an eye pillow or your favorite headphones.

Let's begin by being in the place you have chosen to meditate.

At this moment observe the space in which you inhabit.

Acknowledge your environment.

Breathe here now.

This is an opportunity for you to sink into a personal moment of time,

Your sacred pause,

Your time to connect with your whole being and breath.

You are invited to soften your gaze or close your eyes as I guide us all mind the time.

When the guided meditation is complete you'll hear the sound of a bell.

Now fill into your body.

Feel how your body rests upon the surface where you lay or are seated.

As you breathe notice where your breath travels,

Observe,

Nothing to fix just notice the breath.

Notice your body.

On the next exhale release a deep sigh like a deep sigh of relief.

On the inhale accept a deep inhale and hold for a count of five one two three four five release and again count the inhale.

Maybe you would like to choose your count on the next hold and on the next exhale and then on the next inhale.

I will pause now for you to be with your own experience of how you choose to breathe and notice.

If a thought arises let it pass.

You don't have to follow it and if you do come back to your breath once you notice you have drifted into thought.

Now as you breathe imagine seeing yourself outside of yourself sitting or lying there.

Imagine yourself surrounded by a beautiful orb of light.

The light protects you like the protection of scorpion.

Your body is there and you are now free of your body.

As you breathe into the spirit of your body allow your spirit to notice the ground.

What is it like to be free of gravity?

Breathe as you notice.

What is earth like?

As you breathe observe what is water like to be without your body.

Now notice the element of fire.

Perhaps your spirit comes across a flame or fire.

What is it like to be without your body near the fire or the flame?

Breathe and notice.

As you observe the flame or fire what is the air like that surrounds it?

What is it like to observe air in this new form of your being?

Now let's return to your consciousness.

Consciousness without your body.

Your pure consciousness.

What is it like to breathe with your consciousness?

Or observe the orb which surrounds you as your pure consciousness.

What is it like to breathe more light into that orb so that it glows like rays of the sun?

What do you observe?

Breathe.

Take a few breaths into this observation.

Notice and breathe.

One attachment.

Simply breathing.

In the next few breaths return to the air which surrounds your orb and breathe into the fire or flame as your pure consciousness.

Observe and notice.

Now breathe observing water.

What is it like to observe pure consciousness of water?

You see your body as it is sitting or lying down and in the count of five breaths,

Five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One,

Breathe back into your body.

What is it like to breathe with pure consciousness into your body and with your spirit body merged as one and connected by breath?

Breathe deep and slowly exhale.

As you breathe your next few breaths acknowledge where you were and where you are now.

When you are ready slowly ever so slowly invite in a gentle movement into your fingers,

Wrists,

Toes and ankles.

Perhaps you'd like to gently palm your eyelids with a soft massage,

Massaging the crown of your head.

When you open your eyes maybe you'd like to gently flutter your eyelids or slowly move your head from side to side and stretch as if rising for the day.

I invite you to curl into a fetal position before rising for a lunar yin introspective receptive flow rise to your left side of your body.

For a solar yang extrovert expressive active flow rise to your right side of your body.

Gently rise and unfurl as you step into the next phase of this day.

Before you move on to the rest of your day maybe you'd like to journal what you experience from this restful pause.

The place you create in your vision is your sanctuary.

We thank you for providing this time within your schedule honoring your inner temple.

You are worth it and you are magical.

We invite you to join us next month on a guided meditation with the fire element of Sagittarius with its corresponding tarot card of temperance.

Best of both love from astral well.
