As the Sun travels into the seventh sign of the zodiac, Libra, the summer season shifts with the Autumnal Equinox, in the Northern Hemisphere. At this exact intersection the Sun, crosses the celestial equator from the north, into the south, similar to how many winged, finned, four-legged, and two-legged creatures migrate upon the Earth.

Today's meditative journey is inspired by the cardinal air sign of Libra,

Ruled by Venus.

Beginning on the day of the autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere and vernal equinox for our friends in the southern hemisphere.

A day of balance,

Of equal daylight,

And of equal night.

Libra,

The seventh sign,

Is represented in the zodiac as a symbol of the scales of balance.

Libra is the only inanimate object in the zodiac not relating to a person or creature.

The LB abbreviation for a pound referring to the measurement of weight by a scale correlates to Libra.

Libra's glyph is the ancient Greek alphabet symbol of Omega above a horizontal line.

Libra strives for balance,

Harmony,

Diplomacy,

And is sociable,

Compassionate,

Creative,

Or drawn to the arts,

Beauty,

And nature.

Libra people may find themselves in roles of being of service or creative,

And some find the harmony of both.

Because Libra can see different points of view,

They may sometimes be challenged with making choices.

Libra governs the anatomy of the liver,

Kidneys,

And lower back.

Its chakra is the anahata,

Where the heart center resides.

Libra corresponds with justice in the tarot,

Major arcana,

Of the eleventh key of the tree of life,

Often depicted as a feminine archetype,

Holding scales with the left hand and a sword upright with the right hand,

Seated tall between two pillars.

Chars reflect the principles of balance,

Harmony,

And grace,

And the sword can be double-edged cutting through illusion,

Deception,

And delusion with action and intellect to reveal truth.

In the Thoth deck,

The Justice card is card number eight known as Adjustment,

Eight representing connection to the divine,

Infinity,

Expansion,

The motion of balance,

And the measure of the immeasurable,

A spiritual symbol.

The Justice-adjustment card can reflect upon life balance,

Matters of law,

And clarity.

Various ancient mythologies feature both the scales or an arc type of justice,

Represented by a deity,

From the Egyptian goddess Ma'at,

The goddess of truth,

Justice,

And balance,

The mistress of the underworld within the Hall of Judgment,

Who weighs the heart of those who recently died and measures it with an ostrich feather,

Testing their truthfulness to determine the fate of a person's afterlife journey.

Or Themis,

The Greek goddess of fairness,

Divine law of nature,

And communal affairs.

Or the Hindu deity Yama,

Who is the god of death,

Dharma,

Justice,

And law,

The judge of souls and king of ghosts.

These are to name a few deities.

Maybe you know of some as well.

Notice the theme,

Justice,

Harmony,

Balance,

Of life and of death.

This balance brings us into a collective global journey where we begin to experience a seasonal shift to less or more light depending on where we are upon the earth.

With this shift comes choices and changes from internal to external,

As above,

So below.

With all this information within our creative hemisphere of the mind,

Let's now settle into a meditative journey releasing all that we think we know and all that we know to be present with our own breath and within our own being.

If accessible to you,

You are invited to bring slow or gentle movements into this meditative practice while you are sitting up in a relaxed state with a long spine or lying down.

Please gather what you will to equip yourself for your personal journey,

Perhaps an eye pillow or your favorite headphones.

Let's begin by being in the place you have chosen to meditate.

At this moment,

Observe the space in which you inhabit.

Acknowledge your environment.

Breathe here now.

This is an opportunity for you to sink into a personal moment of time,

Your sacred pause,

Your time to connect with your whole being and breath.

You are invited to soften your gaze or close your eyes as I guide us,

All mind the time.

When the guided meditation is complete,

You'll hear the sound of a bell.

Now observe your body making contact on the surface of where you are seated or where you rest.

The earth supports you as it supports all.

As you breathe,

Allow Earth's gravity to carry you breath by breath,

Scan your body.

As your breath enters your lungs,

Gently allow your breath to flow through you,

Relaxing all parts of your body.

If you feel a tightness within your body,

Are you able to gently guide your breath into that area of your body?

Slowly inhaling and slowly exhaling,

Allowing each breath to soften your body and release any tension you may be noticing.

Perhaps you'd like to slowly count your inhale to match your exhale or simply breathe through your nose into the depths of where your diaphragm connects with your belly,

Filling up your lungs slowly and generously.

As you breathe gently in and out,

Imagine yourself comfortably seated or standing in a place which is your sanctuary,

A space where you are safe,

A place which brings you harmony.

Maybe you've been to this space or it is a place you imagine.

While in this sacred space,

You notice a brilliant moon which was full on the horizon.

It is illuminating the sky before dawn's first light.

Observe your breath,

Observe your sacred space where you are with this moonlit morning.

As you are,

You begin to see the glimpse of a morning sunrise on the opposite horizon.

Slowly the sun grows,

Peaking its crust slowly above the horizon.

As it rises,

The light of the sky changes from what was the dark night with twinkling stars and constellations to a blue twilight as the stars fade into the early morning.

As the sun rises,

The shifts of color change upon the surroundings of where you are.

What do you notice?

Observe and notice.

Breathe here now.

As you watch the sun slowly rise and the moon slowly set from your vantage point,

What else do you notice?

Do you notice their balance at one moment?

As you are upon the earth and as the sun and moon cosmically aligned for this moment,

For this day,

Maybe you'd like to observe how you are in your own unique harmony.

Along with this cosmic dance,

This sacred pause is the moment for you to breathe and be in harmony,

To observe and explore the balance of nature.

At this time,

Perhaps you'd like to set an intention that includes balance,

Harmony,

Or a lightness of being that radiates to and from your heart center,

Or maybe a word,

Phrase,

Symbol,

Shape,

Or color comes to you.

Whatever arrives,

Or if it is simply the gift of breath,

May it be received with compassion.

May you honor yourself with compassion.

On the inhale,

We receive.

On the exhale,

We release.

What would you like to receive?

What would you like to release?

In the next few breaths,

I will pause my voice for you to be with your breath and in the sanctuary you have created.

In the next few breaths,

When you are ready,

Slowly,

Ever so slowly,

Invite in a gentle movement into your fingers,

Wrists,

Toes,

And ankles.

Perhaps you'd like to gently palm your eyelids with a soft massage or massage the crown of your head.

When you open your eyes,

Maybe you'd like to gently flutter your eyelids or slowly move your head from side to side and stretch as if rising for the day.

As you stretch,

Try to move ever so slowly and observe the movement and its depth of interconnectedness within your body.

If you have chosen to lie down,

I invite you to gently rise from your side as an offering of compassion to your body before rising into a seated position.

For lunar yin introspective receptive creative flow,

Rise to your left side of your body.

For a solar yang extrovert expressive active flow,

Rise to your right side of your body.

Gently rise and unfurl as you step into the next phase of this day.

Before you move on to the rest of your day,

Maybe you'd like to journal what showed up for you from this restful pause.

This place you create in your vision is your sanctuary.

We thank you for providing this time within your schedule honoring your inner temple.

You are worth it and you are a magical being.

Please join us for next month's guided meditation through the element of water in the zodiac sign of Scorpio corresponding with the tarot card of death.

With love from Astral Well.
