Forgiveness is a crucial part of healing. Holding onto resentment for another person, or even ourselves has been compared to drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Although this sentiment is quite harsh, it's true. When we can forgive others and ourselves, we free ourselves from suffering. I hope this visualization brings you freedom and the healing that you are searching for.

This meditation is for those moments when you feel blocked,

Stuck,

Angry,

Or misunderstood in any relationship with a family member,

A friend,

A coworker,

Or even with yourself.

When a relationship becomes a source of stress,

It means we have some work to do.

Like one of my favorite teachers always says,

Every encounter is a holy encounter.

This means that every relationship in our lives,

Whether long or short,

Is an opportunity to grow,

Learn,

Heal,

And love.

At times,

Relationships can be painful and frustrating.

My hope for this meditation is that it can help you through any blocks you are coming up against and get you to a place of love once again,

Or maybe for the first time.

Before we begin with the meditation,

I want you to get really honest with yourself for a minute.

Notice if there is any resistance towards forgiving this person or yourself.

Do I really want to forgive this person?

Do they deserve to be forgiven?

I get it.

It's hard to forgive people.

It's hard to forgive yourself.

But usually,

The moment that we recognize resistance to something means that we're exactly where we're supposed to be.

Trust that you are in the right place and trust that this is exactly what you need.

I invite you to close your eyes.

Take a few deep,

Long breaths in through the nose,

Filling your belly and lungs,

And out through the nose.

Repeat this cycle two more times.

In through the nose and out through the nose.

In through the nose,

Out through the nose.

Picture the person you need to forgive standing before you.

As you breathe in,

Picture this white,

Beautiful light filling up your heart space.

And as you exhale,

Imagine this bright light shining into the other person's heart.

Inhale and imagine the bright white light growing in the other person's heart.

Exhale,

The light comes back to your heart.

Now as you inhale,

Your light grows brighter.

And as you exhale,

You again extend your light.

Inhale,

Imagine the white light growing even more in the other person's heart.

Exhale,

The light comes back to you.

Feel the peace that washes over your entire body as you begin to see this person in a new light.

Feel your walls and their walls breaking down.

If it's comfortable for you,

Visualize embracing this person and say,

I forgive you.

And in return,

They say,

I forgive you.

Still in the embrace,

Visualize the light extending back and forth between you.

Eventually,

The light will fill both of you from head to toe.

Continue the breath and continue seeing the light extending back and forth until you can no longer see yourself or the other person because you are now both immersed in light.

Start to come back to the room.

Feel the ground beneath you,

The air on your skin,

The sounds surrounding you.

And when you're ready,

Open your eyes.

The lightness that you feel now may last an hour,

A few hours,

A day,

A week,

But know that the work that you're doing is helping.

And the more that you return to this meditation,

The more that your relationships can heal.

You may get triggered today.

You may get triggered tomorrow and that's okay.

As soon as you find yourself getting triggered,

Getting upset,

Return to this meditation.

This meditation has served me so much and I hope that it can serve you in the same way.

Helped so much with a current situation. I will practice if I wind up speaking to this person again. Thank you.
