This meditation will help you assess whether or not the goals you made at the beginning of the year still feel aligned with your intentions and your energy. You may sit in contemplation for this meditation or you may choose to have a journal handy to write down any insights. By the end of this meditation you'll be even more clear on what you want for yourself in the year ahead.

Hello,

And Happy New Year,

Beautiful soul.

The beginning of the new year can be a really exciting time.

It can feel full of possibilities,

Opportunities,

New beginnings and fresh starts.

It feels so good to feel excited about the year ahead.

And it's around this time where some of that novelty and that excitement can start to wear off and maybe even start to feel like a ton of pressure on yourself.

You see,

The truth of the matter is the energy that we start the new year with may not be the energy that you have now.

And likewise,

The goals that you set at the beginning of the year may not be aligned with where you're at now.

So this meditation is your opportunity to let go of the pressure to be perfect at your habits and goals and to also step into how you're feeling now,

Rather trying to push and force and sustain these goals that no longer feel aligned for you.

This is your opportunity to give yourself permission to let go of what no longer feels right for you.

Throughout this meditation,

I will ask you several questions.

Please feel free to have a journal handy to write down any of your thoughts,

Feelings,

Anything that might come up for you.

Or you can simply just contemplate what's coming up for you as well.

Now,

Taking the next few moments here to find yourself in that nice comfortable seat or feel free to lie down if that's what feels best for you in this moment.

And taking a nice big deep breath in,

Breathe in through the nose and let it go out the mouth.

Couple more times just like that,

Breathing in,

Allowing yourself to be present here in this moment with this breath and exhale it out through the mouth.

One more just like that,

Breathing in and exhale,

Breathing out.

And with each breath from here on,

Just allowing yourself to relax even more.

With each exhale,

You melt away any tension,

Any tightness,

Any anxious energy that you might be holding on to.

Continuing to let go,

To relax even deeper here,

Relaxing the shoulders down away from the ears,

Relaxing the arms,

The face,

Relaxing the hips and the legs.

And now from this calm,

Relaxed place,

Bringing into your mind's eye the goals and the habits and the intentions that you've created for yourself this year.

Maybe you've decided to drink more water or move your body more or get out in nature more.

Whatever those goals and habits and intentions are,

Bring them to your mind's eye.

And maybe if you'd like,

You can even jot them down in that journal.

And then once you have a clear idea of the goals and habits and intentions that you've made for yourself this year,

Go through them one by one and just ask yourself,

How do these goals and tensions and habits feel now?

I'll give you a few moments here to contemplate and really feel into how they feel when you think about moving forward with these goals and intentions.

And really pay attention to how the body responds when you think about these habits and goals and intentions.

Do they start to feel heavy?

Is there pressure related to these goals?

Or on the flip side of that,

Do they feel inspiring?

Do they feel light?

Do they feel energizing?

It's really interesting to notice because some goals look really good on paper and yet when we follow through with them,

When we start taking action toward them,

They no longer feel good.

And that's really great information to have.

Of course,

Some goals are going to require some pushing,

Some motivation.

And goals can also feel inspiring and energizing.

So take a moment here and ask yourself,

Do these goals fuel me or zap my energy?

Am I inspired by these goals or am I trying desperately to stay motivated?

And lastly,

Are these goals pushing me forward or are they pulling me forward?

And taking note here of the goals that might be feeling misaligned,

Might feel heavy,

There might feel like there's a ton of pressure around a certain goal or two.

And if that's the case,

I want you to give yourself permission to shift or pivot this goal.

Is there something that needs to be adjusted?

How can you recreate this goal to be inspiring versus zapping your energy and draining you?

Again,

Giving yourself full permission here to let this goal go.

If there are no options to reframe this,

Recreate this in a really inspiring way.

Sometimes the best gift that we can give ourselves is to quit and start fresh.

Taking a nice big deep breath in here,

Breathing in through the nose and exhale,

Letting go of any tension that is built up in the body.

And from here,

Taking any of those goals,

Habits or intentions that just don't feel right,

That maybe feel like a thousand pounds of pressure on your shoulders.

I want you to imagine putting that goal into a big bag.

It might be one goal,

It might be several goals.

And then once you have all the goals that aren't necessarily feeling good for you right now,

Once they're all tucked away into that bag,

I want you to tie it up.

Imagine throwing that bag over your shoulder and imagine taking one step after the other.

Feeling the weight,

Feeling the heaviness of these goals as you work to push yourself forward,

Taking the necessary steps.

It might feel like you are slogging through the mud.

It might feel like your legs are concrete.

As you continue to take one step after the other,

Realize that you have a choice.

You have a choice in this moment to drop that bag.

And right now I want you to unclench your grip and just let that bag go,

Drop it.

And as you continue to take one step forward and another step forward,

Now feeling the lightness,

Feeling the energy,

Feeling the lightness and the beauty of letting go of the heaviness and the pressure to continue doing something that doesn't feel right.

Now with this freedom,

With this lightness,

With this open space,

What do you want to create from here?

The possibilities are endless.

Goals and intentions and habits are amazing,

But they're even more amazing when they're fun,

When there's ease,

When there's peace.

And when your goals feel like fun,

You're going to achieve them quicker and with more ease.

Take a deep breath in here.

Breathe in through the nose,

Giving yourself all the permission that you need to create the goals that feel so good for you in your life.

And exhale again,

Releasing,

Letting go of any pressure that may have built up,

Any residual heaviness.

Let's do it two more times,

Breathing in and really pressing the breath out of the body,

Letting it go.

Yes.

So one more time,

Breathe in here and exhale,

Letting it all go.

Beautiful job.

And as you feel ready here,

Starting to wiggle fingers,

Wiggle toes,

And gently guiding yourself out of this meditation,

Feeling lighter,

Feeling happier,

Feeling even more energized to reach for those goals and the ones that feel good for you.

Thank you so,

So much for joining me for this meditation.

I can't wait to meditate with you again very soon.

Namaste.
