In this talk, I speak on the trap of comparing your life to someone else's and the harm that it causes. It is a reminder to stay steadfast on your path and to always remember to come home to yourself. I hope that you are open to receiving this message.

Hi I'm Maryam Aisha and I'm so grateful that you are here.

This is gonna be a little different.

This is not necessarily a meditation but instead just me speaking and flowing freely on a topic that I feel like is really really important right now in the age that we are in,

In the age of social media,

In the age of instant gratification.

I hope you are open to receiving me and yeah.

In the age of social media it is so easy to get caught in a cycle of being in comparison mode,

Of getting sucked into this trap of feeling like I'm not worthy.

I can't possibly be good enough because look at them.

My path doesn't look like them.

I don't look like them but they're successful so don't I have to do like what they do since they're where I want to be?

We don't see everyone's ups and downs.

We don't see everyone's journey and we think that we're looking at parallel paths.

We think that this must be the way if they did it when in reality the only way we are supposed to go is the way of ourself.

No path is the same.

No person is the same and it is so beautiful and it is so radical to show up 100% yourself,

To show up 100% authentically you and to do whatever you're called to do.

Not what you think you need to do,

Not what someone else did and because you want to be in their position you take that on.

You don't know what their position requires.

No one can walk in your shoes so you shouldn't be trying to fit in other people's shoes.

The further and further we go down this road of comparing ourselves and minimizing ourselves,

Dimming our light and fabricating personalities in order to be accepted and received by society,

The further we get from our spirit,

The further we get from our highest self.

You feel that disconnect like even if things look you know nice and tidy on the outside,

That there's an emptiness inside,

That there's a hole in my chest that I just I just can't I just don't know what to do.

It's like it won't go away.

It's because we are in an alignment.

When we are looking at other people's lanes instead of focusing on our own,

Focusing on our self,

Wondering what would I do?

What would my highest self do?

What does my highest self look like?

What do they do every day?

When they wake up,

What type of energy surrounds them?

And focusing on putting yourself in your own shoes and working towards your highest potential instead of thinking that what you want to be,

What you dream of yourself,

That you aren't worthy of it,

That you don't deserve it.

Those are lies.

Those are lies that society wants us to believe so we are never satisfied,

So that we never find a home within ourselves,

So that we are constantly searching outside of ourselves instead of going within.

We cannot continue to believe these lies.

We cannot continue to foster these habits that create this unhappiness,

This dissatisfaction with ourselves,

And low self-worth.

We are so worthy just being us.

There is nothing wrong with you.

When you came into this world,

You were pure,

You were vibrant,

You knew exactly what was going on and society programs us to doubt ourselves,

To fear our own potential,

To feel unworthy of stepping into it.

But I'm here to remind you that just being you,

Walking in your shoes,

Centering within yourself,

Accepting yourself,

Loving yourself,

Trusting yourself,

Trusting in spirit,

Trusting in the divine guidance is enough and that you are exactly where you need to be.

I know that can be difficult because we are constantly fed imagery that tells us otherwise,

But as long as you keep this close to your heart and even unplugging the social media,

Unplugging from things that you feel like make you do these things.

I recently unfollowed a lot of people that even though their content was really great,

I enjoyed it,

I noticed that I was comparing myself or that I was taking notes when I need to be taking notes from myself,

Meditating with myself,

Sitting with myself and figuring out what I need to be doing because my ancestors,

They speak to me,

Spirit speaks to me and if I listen then all the success,

All the love and the satisfaction will come to me naturally because I'm living in alignment.

When we start trying to do things like somebody else we get out of alignment.

We're supposed to you know take what resonates and check back in with ourselves.

Is this true for me?

Is this what I need to be doing?

Just because it looks good doesn't mean it's right for you.

So again I just want to remind you that you are enough you are beautiful,

You are loving,

You are kind,

You are smart,

You are successful,

You are everything that you need to be.

All you have to do is peel away these layers and layers and layers of programming that have taught you otherwise,

That have made you think otherwise because they're lies flat out.

The lie is in us and when we choose to shine outward other people see that and they can celebrate you.

But no celebration can truly be for you if you are not being yourself.

So I just want you to continue to show up as yourself and to continue to work on elevating yourself,

To continue to heal your relationship with self,

To continue to work on cultivating self-worth and self-love.

If that means unfollowing every celebrity,

Influencer,

Deleting social media for a period of time just to come back to self then so be it.

But whatever you feel like you need to do just know that that is the right decision for you.

Know two people are the same.

Just know that it feels so much lighter being you and that's coming from me.

Someone who built up a hard arm or someone who didn't want to be like I was as a child because I felt like it was the root of my suffering.

I didn't want to do the inner child healing.

I kind of just wanted to you know forget everything and you know just be happy which is you know that would be beautiful.

But we all have our journey and on the other side of going deep within the recesses of my mind and my spirit I found peace and I found lightness and just okay I am enough.

I have I am more than enough tattooed on my rib to remind myself of this.

In my eyes that symbolized to me that it's ingrained in me.

It's ingrained in my body and when I look at it and when I say it out loud it is then ingrained in my mind.

And by feeling what that feels like when I say it it is then ingrained in my spirit.

I am more than enough.

I do not have to compare myself to anyone because I am more than enough.

I do not have to compare myself to anyone because I am more than enough.

This is a mantra.

If you feel called to say it with me say it with me.

I am more than enough.

I do not have to compare myself to anyone because I am more than enough.

I trust in my path.

I trust in myself and I know I am exactly where I need to be.

We got to keep reminding ourselves of this and when we find ourselves being too critical dismissing ourselves getting down on ourselves and comparing ourselves to other people we have to remind ourselves of this.

I hope that you will continue to carry this with you and thank you so much for listening.

I hope you have a beautiful day or night.

Even though I do not have social media, mental chatter can allow for comparison of those in your life. Knowing you are enough is all that matters. Lovely talk.

This was a profound talk. I loved it and it is exactly what I need, the reinforcement a day reminder that I need in this exact moment that I am indeed more than enough. Ever so often we 'backslide' from our higher selves into the web of lies of socialization and conditioning. So this talk reminded me of who I am and redirected me to my higher self. Thank you. Namaste🙏🏾💕

I have spent most of my life comparing myself to others, not totally accepting myself. To discover this talk was a gift. Delivered with compassion and understanding. Will revisit this many times. I am enough. I am unique. Thank you so much.😄💕

Thank you for this. I was someone who used to compare myself to others constantly - I will be listening to this when I notice that voice in my head comparing myself again and again. Your voice brings me peace and calm. Thank You 🙏🏽
