Guided Meditation recorded live on retreat with Burgs. This meditation is one of Burgs signature meditations and is designed to bring us into a state of stillness, presence and connection. It functions as a gateway for us to enter into and abide within the basic state of pure awareness. It can be used as a preliminary practice for relaxing, settling and calm abiding and gradually it can be developed into a more subtle concentration and insight practice once the emerging qualities of mountain-like presence, undisturbed stillness and clarity are well established within the deepening state of pure awareness.

Let's do our meditation.

Relax into your posture.

Let the flesh relax around the bones.

Settle into your posture as if you were a sack of rice placed upon the floor.

Settle naturally and effortlessly into your own space.

Bringing your awareness down into the body,

To feel the body from within the body,

Withdraws energy from the mind,

Engages our attention at a level that is beyond thought.

We're just with the simple quality of the experience.

Without visualizing,

There is a subtler sense,

A felt sense of the body.

Don't drift off into your mind,

Stay with the quality of the experience,

The experience of resting with your body.

If you're holding tension in your nerves,

Take a long in-breath and a long,

Gentle sigh out.

Breathe in.

A lot of the tension we feel in the body is the charge we're holding in the nerves on account of some subtle level of gripping or grasping or rejecting our experience.

Relax,

Ease yourself into it.

Let the tension in your body release.

Let your body gradually settle like a mountain.

Feel your heart,

The area of your heart slightly left to center in the middle of your chest.

Likewise,

It will feel calm and relaxed or tense or disturbed.

It doesn't matter if it is disturbed right now.

And that is just a reflection of throwing too many pebbles in the pond.

The more you settle,

The more you allow things just to be,

The calmer you become,

The more settled your heart becomes,

The more its mirror-like nature reveals itself.

It takes time.

The heart reveals its mirror-like quality gradually through being undisturbed by your mind.

It's like water.

All of these qualities are felt qualities within the experience itself.

The quality of the feeling in the heart,

The quality of the feeling within the body,

The sense of its presence,

They are all innate within your experience.

Feel from your heart to the stillness of the room.

Don't project yourself out into the stillness or you will become scattered and you will lose your sense of settled presence.

Feel the stillness from within you so that it might become an inner stillness.

Emerge into that stillness that you are resting in.

Let the sense of your mountain-like presence reveal itself naturally within awareness.

Your mind merely robs you of that clarity,

That quality of awareness.

Leave everything alone.

Don't add to it with your mind.

When you think,

You lose awareness,

When you are fully aware your mind is clear and sky-like,

Like a crystal clear,

Endless blue sky.

Leave everything as it is.

These qualities,

These three qualities of your experience are innate within the experience,

Reveal themselves more clearly.

The more you allow the experience just to be,

The more you leave it as it is.

Your sense of mountain-like presence emerges gradually.

Feeling at the heart,

The relief of being undisturbed by the mind gradually reveals this mirror-like quality to our awareness.

The mind gradually becomes clear and spacious,

Like a cloudless blue sky.

Rest calmly.

Leave it to appear naturally.

Don't add to it with your mind.

Don't add to it with your mind.

And feel from your heart with gentleness.

Feel the whole of your body.

If you are holding tension in your nuts through gripping,

Take a long in-breath,

A gentle sigh out.

Feel from your heart to your whole body.

Make reflection.

May I be happy and peaceful and free from suffering.

May all beings be happy and peaceful and free from suffering.

May all beings be happy and peaceful and free from suffering.

May all beings be happy and peaceful and free from suffering.

May all beings be happy and peaceful and free from suffering.

May all beings be happy and peaceful and free from suffering.

Loved this meditation. The right amount of guidance and silence and I loved the mantras towards the end. There is no bell at the end so you can sit as long as you want after.

I found this meditation to be very pleasant and calming. Somehow it got very easy to keep going back to my center and find a bit of emptyness.
