There is within us an eternal flame,
A flame that burns deep in the centre of the chest,
The colour of fire,
The colour of the pulsing heart.
There is a burning that can be so intense that it glows beyond the form.
This flame cannot be extinguished by the winds of torment,
Nor by the tears of despair.
It may flicker with fear,
It may flutter with despondency and begin to quietly diminish.
But the spark always remains ready to flare,
To be fiercely ignited at any given moment.
Once it brushes against love,
Once it engages with purpose,
Once it encounters kindness.
The anima of this flame is compassion,
Anahata,
The chakra.
Breathe with me gently now,
In and out.
Sensing the breath,
The breath being the bellows,
Stoking the flame,
Fanning the flame.
The shimmering image at the eyebrow centre,
Its light brilliantly igniting the whole being.
Travelling from the crown to the toes,
Iridescent from within,
Glimmering through the translucent shell of the body.
Flames soaring upwards,
Flames outwards,
Exuding glow beyond the being.
Tranquility entering the body,
Fatigue abandoning the mind,
Energy glistening through the pores,
The heart gazing intently at its outer world.
Pulsing and flickering with every inhale,
Shining brighter with every exhale.
The genesis of the eternal flame is compassion,
Compassion,
Compassion.
Whisper the mantra,
This mantra of Tibetan Buddhism,
To awaken the quintessence of love and compassion that resides deep within you.
Om Mani Padme Hum,
For me,
For you,
For all.
I honour the jewel in the lotus,
Mani is jewel,
Padme is flower or the lotus.
Om the sound of creation,
The vibration of the universe,
Omnipresent here and everywhere,
Infinite,
No beginning,
No end.
Allow the breath to draw you inwards to a beating heart,
Whispering the magic.
Om Mani Padme Hum.
Allow the mantra to take you in its embrace.
Nurture,
Give,
Honour.
Invoke the custodian of wisdom,
The Buddha of ultimate compassion.
Call upon this,
He who gives guidance and comfort to the spirit,
Releasing the fatigue of negativity,
The struggling.
Sense the heart assenting,
Compassionate.
All-embracing.
Om Mani Padme Hum.
Hear it,
Envision it.
Allow it to cleanse you,
To keep you present.
Gentle,
Pure,
With love,
Open.
Om Mani Padme Hum.
As we shine brightly and tread lightly upon this earth,
Isn't it our duty to help those less fortunate,
Those in need and those who reach out to us?
After all,
Isn't this the essence of humanity?
Compassion.
Compassion.
And to know that when the body frees the spirit,
The everlasting flame continues on in the hearts of all.
And all of this has been ignited from this single flame.
Om Mani Padme Hum.
