Hello,
Hello and welcome.
This is an intuitive book reading and I am Anna.
I will be your guide today and for those of you who are unfamiliar with intuitive book readings,
Welcome.
Welcome to the practice.
Welcome to the experience.
We will be treating our books today as messengers.
It is a practice that was gifted to me by a dear coach several years ago and I have expanded on and developed and shared with so many others that have found it so powerful and guiding and healing.
And so today we will be experiencing this practice as well as just receiving what is meant to come through.
So I invite you to simply open up and allow yourself to receive the message,
Receive the light,
Receive the love that is being shared through these pages,
Through the connection with each other.
And with each reading I like to open up with a meditation and before doing that I will always invite you to set your space,
Whatever that means for you.
So if you want to find a quiet room and light a candle or make yourself a cup of tea or hot water with lemon,
Maybe you'd like to light some incense or burn some sage or maybe you're completely comfortable exactly as you are,
Feel free to pause this meditation and do whatever you need to do to make sure you're comfortable and you're able to simply sit back,
Open up and receive for the next few moments.
And with that I invite you to ground into your space.
If you'd like to be seated for this or lie down,
Just get nice and present wherever you are.
You can feel free to keep your eyes open or closed for this brief meditation.
You may hear my dog jingling in the background as she climbs up on my lap.
Maybe there's a companion you'd like to cuddle with as well,
But just slowly start to bring your attention to your breath and to your body.
See if you can notice the points of contact your body makes with the earth or the surface below you.
Notice which sensations you feel most strongly and allow yourself to simply sit with the one that's coming through right now.
Whether it's a taste in your mouth,
A sound in the room,
Smell or the feeling of your clothes on your skin,
Temperature of the air,
Become an observer and for just a moment allow yourself simply to experience being alive.
At the beginning of each practice you're invited to set an intention for this experience.
Maybe there's a question you're wanting an answer to or maybe it's as simple as allowing yourself to receive what you need most today.
Feel free to take the next moment to set that intention or ask your question now.
In these last moments of centering I invite you to bring in a little bit of gratitude for this time you've carved out for yourself,
For your own practice,
For all those practicing along with us and for anything else you'd like to show appreciation for in this moment.
We ask for guidance,
For clarity,
For confirmation,
For love and for light,
Connecting our hearts and our minds and whenever you feel ready you can bring your attention back to your body,
Maybe making some gentle movements.
If your eyes are closed you can feel free to blink them open or if you'd like to keep them closed for the remainder of this practice feel free to do so.
And with this practice we are treating books as messengers.
As I said,
If you've experienced an oracle reading you may find some similarities in here and how I typically like to present this is I have been guided to choose a few books,
Typically around three,
And it's whatever jumps out to me on my bookshelf.
You can do this practice at home as well,
Whatever's closest to you or if there's a book that's just been nagging at you feel free to pay attention to that.
But with each one I will simply allow it to open to a random page and wherever my eyes land I'll begin to read until I feel called to stop and trust that that is the exact passage that was needed in this moment.
Whether it resonates or not immediately does not matter.
Sometimes it makes sense and sometimes it doesn't but after each one I'll leave some space for us to reflect on whatever's coming through.
If there's anything that feels really present or anything that we want to share or remember feel free to do so.
You can even jot it down if you'd like.
And after all three readings I will share my own reflections,
Any common themes or threads that are coming up that I feel called to share with you,
The message that I feel is coming through,
And I invite you to take it or leave it if it feels like it's meant for you,
Wonderful.
Add to whatever experience you've already had in this practice and also remember that sometimes we are the messengers as well.
That even if this doesn't feel as though it resonates deeply with you,
Maybe you are meant to share it with someone else.
So staying open to those connections with others and conversations and trusting that you will know exactly when and where and with whom you are meant to share these passages.
So with that please feel free to stay as comfy as possible while I go ahead and start with our first reading.
And the books I've chosen today already have kind of a common theme.
They really jumped out to me and some feel as though they may be a little bit heavier,
But you know that's okay.
We're going to take from it what we need and the first one I'm going to start with is The Twelve Stages of Healing,
A Network Approach to Wholeness by Donald M.
Epstein.
In this reading,
A Time for Change.
Stage six provides a timely window of opportunity for us to make needed modifications in our lives in preparation for resolution.
It is often a time to change lifestyle habits,
Open to new perspectives on healing and commit to wellness.
It may be the time when we decide to change from a meat-based to a plant-based diet or increase our intake of more whole and unprocessed foods for instance.
Stage six also provides an ideal opportunity to begin an exercise program.
Serious long-term commitments to participate in healthy exercise like brisk walking,
Jogging,
Aerobics and swimming often begin as we enter the sixth stage of healing.
If we have been given an invitation for a free introductory visit to a gym or were once presented a gift certificate for a spa treatment,
Bodywork session,
Chiropractic adjustment or massage,
This stage is often the time when we finally decide to use it.
We are open to new alternatives to help facilitate our forward movement into the later stages of healing.
And I'll pause there and leave some space for you to reflect and see if anything comes through within that passage.
And the next reading will come from Living in the Light of Death on the Art of Being Truly Alive by Larry Rosenberg with David Guy.
Her second reading,
The Buddha put it this way,
Young and old,
Foolish and wise,
Rich and poor,
All keep dying.
As a potter's clay vessels,
Large and small,
Fired and unfired,
All end up broken.
So too,
Life leads to death.
Once again,
I'll leave some space here for you to notice what's coming through.
And the last reading is from Conscious Living,
Finding Joy in the Real World by Gay Hendricks.
The freedom is in this moment.
I feel grateful to have discovered the power of these four moves in my life.
I have come to have great respect for their power and for the power of our resistance to them.
I watch people in therapy go to great lengths to avoid facing something or to avoid a commitment or an action.
I often wonder why we resist these moves so much.
If only we could see that our limitations are largely made of nothing.
Take the past,
For example.
We think of it as something,
But it is really nothing.
Go looking for it and you will never find it.
We all think of ourselves as being shaped by the past,
And many of us think we are limited by it.
The truth is,
You and I both have a past.
It's been powerful and often painful and has shaped us in ways past knowing.
Having said that,
I invite you to forget it.
The past is,
Quite literally,
Irrelevant.
It has power over us only if we give it the power each moment.
You give it power by the moves you make in each moment.
Each day,
You and I are offered the opportunity to recreate the past or to create a brand new future.
Take your mind off the past and the future and focus instead on moments that are occurring constantly.
If you do this,
I guarantee you will not regret it.
No matter what has happened to you in the past,
No matter where you've been or what you've done,
You,
Like me,
Are creating your life this moment through your choices.
You are choosing to read a book this moment,
Instead of sticking your hand in a baseball glove.
I'm not saying that you are making the right choice.
All I'm saying is that you are making a choice.
I happen to like your choice,
But now and then I also like to stick my hand in a baseball glove.
If you think you are your past,
You give power over your choice to things outside your control.
The past has already happened,
And you cannot do anything about it.
What is real is this moment,
And you have the ultimate choice.
I'll leave space here once again for you to sit and reflect.
The message that I'm feeling called to share today through these readings is coming through so clearly around beginnings and endings,
Around life and death,
Cycles,
And how it all comes down to choice.
In the first reading,
We are invited to reflect on starting anew,
On new habits,
New practices,
On what changes we want to make that we're feeling called to do things differently,
To maybe make better choices that make us feel more whole and healthier and more vibrant,
That there's opportunity for us to heal in making choices that feel really good for our body,
Our minds,
And our soul.
And in the second reading,
It seemed to focus more on the death,
On the fact that everything comes to an end,
That no matter what choices we make,
The results are always temporary.
We will always find ourselves once again having to make another choice,
Having to grieve what is gone,
Having to make another choice,
Having to grieve what is gone,
What may have been or may have not been,
And trusting that that cycle will always continue,
That from that death comes new life.
From the choices we make,
We are given results which lead us to have to make more choices.
And in the last reading,
Seeing how no matter what choices we make,
No matter where we reflect on where we've been or where we want to go,
We can only ever be where we are right now,
That our past choices are irrelevant.
And that doesn't mean that we shouldn't reflect on them or take accountability for our actions or blame anybody else for the way things have been.
It doesn't mean we have no control.
It simply means our focus is meant to be on what is right in front of us,
That we are in a cycle right now.
And so often,
We come through these spirals where it may feel as though we've already done this.
I've already had to make this choice.
I've already had to learn this lesson.
I've already had to experience this thing.
Why am I having to do it again?
And maybe it's because the first time around,
We were avoiding something,
We weren't ready,
We didn't see the opportunity that was right in front of us,
Or simply made a choice that we didn't like.
But maybe it's because we're going deeper,
That this is actually another layer,
A new opportunity to see things from a different perspective,
Because we have more experience,
More wisdom,
More support,
More faith in ourselves.
And this time around,
We may be able to pay more attention,
Not only to the choices we're making,
But to the impact those choices have on our lives and on others.
And know that even if we make the quote unquote wrong choice,
We will always be given another opportunity.
There will always be another cycle.
There will always be another chance to have a different result,
To start anew,
To choose the healthier route,
To focus on grieving what has passed and welcoming in what is coming anew.
But we can only do that by being fully present in where we are now.
And I'm reminded of a question that came up while I was leading a women's group last week.
And there was a woman there who was really anxious about how much lack of presence she was feeling in her life,
That she felt like she was in a fog and she was just kind of going through the motions and she was really desperate to be present all the time.
How did she get from where she is now to the point where she was constantly present and that she was always paying attention and always open to receiving what's coming through?
And in that moment,
I was watching myself a few years ago,
Having the same crisis and the same questions and feeling that desperation just as freshly as I did when I felt it myself.
And I realized I was in that spiral.
I was once again coming back to the place of,
This question is coming up for a reason.
And maybe there's a new perspective here.
And maybe I can share something with someone else,
But there's also something for me to learn that there is this irony and wanting to be present so much.
And simply by trying to be present,
We are not allowing ourselves to be.
So that effort negates the presence.
And instead of asking,
How do I be more present all of the time?
How do I notice every single thing in every moment and show appreciation and gratitude in every second of my day?
Maybe we can simply start to bring awareness to when we're not present.
Or maybe we can notice the small moments in which we are and carve out intentional space each day for just a few moments,
Even just a few breaths to say during this time,
I'm simply being and all is as it should be.
There's nothing to solve or understand or fix in this space I am.
And the more that we can bring ourselves to this practice over and over,
Whether it has to be dozens or hundreds of times a day,
Or maybe it's just once or twice,
Or maybe you forget for a week.
And that's okay,
Too.
But reminding yourself in the time that there will always be another opportunity to be present.
There will always be another life cycle.
There will always be another challenge to overcome and to use the knowledge in which you've acquired to make a new choice and experience a different result.
And by simply noticing that you're not where you want to be,
You're already on the path to getting where you want to go.
But instead of focusing on where you are or where you aren't,
Or where you're going,
Just simply allowing that awareness to be the practice in that moment.
Being grateful that you're doing the work,
That you're asking the questions,
And that you're being given the opportunities to learn the lessons you need,
Because they're your lessons.
And so while we can ask for guidance and support and coaching or counseling,
And all of those things I highly recommend,
We also have to connect with that inner wisdom,
With the trust that actually only we know the answers because it is our journey alone.
And we're not meant to take it alone.
We can always grab on to the hand of those that are extending theirs.
We can allow ourselves to fall into the arms of those that are willing to catch us.
But it is our responsibility to make the choice and to reflect on the result and to trust that we will always end up where we're meant to be.
And with that,
I would like to thank you so much for joining me in this practice.
I wonder if you had any similar experience of reflection as what came through for me,
Or if yours was entirely different.
Is this something that you can see yourself practicing yourself?
I always am interested in knowing what resonates and what doesn't,
And what you may want to see.
If you'd like more of this in the future or something different,
Please feel free to reach out,
Connect,
Share,
And take with you today what you need and leave what you don't,
Staying open and trusting that this process involves integration as well.
That as much as some of these messages may resonate right away,
So much of this truth has to take time.
It takes patience and space.
So where can you clear out a little bit extra space today and not insert a bunch of effort into it to make something happen,
But rather trust that simply by creating that space,
The integration is already happening.
So I once again thank you for joining me.
I have so much gratitude for sharing this practice,
This time,
Sending so much love and light.
Until next time.

It's early and I'm still in bed listening to the rain hitting my window. I choose your talk from the list and perhaps it's the right message for right now and it was. What a unique share and insight. Im mulling over the ideas and particularly letting go of the past. Its been my burden for way too long. Thank you. I'm going to keep following you to see what new seeds will be planted from your readings.

I’m so happy to learn of this practice! I have actually done this on my own before just for fun, but I really appreciate the grounding and meditation before to make this more ceremonial and sacred. Your style is clear and compassionate—Ty!

The exact right meditation for me today! It was calming and reassuring to me that I’m on the right path, healing from a sudden traumatic loss. Yes, the key is to not shut down but to open up more than ever.
