Allow some space to sit with sadness. To give it space and time to heal. When we don't try to restrict ourselves from feeling and stuffing down emotions it is easier to let them move through us. This gentle, caring meditation welcomes you in your tender place.

Hello,

Thank you for joining this soft guided meditation to help sit with sadness.

Maybe you were drawn to this meditation because you're presently dealing with grief,

Sadness,

Sadness.

Gently close your eyes.

Sometimes the sadness comes and it is deep and rooted.

It may have built its home in your heart,

Your throat,

Your belly.

It may come from all the things that we see that are unjust and unkind in the world.

It may be that your heart is sometimes filled with a sadness that is beyond your comprehension and it ebbs and flows like the tide linked to the moon,

A moon that governs so much.

Wherever sadness comes from,

Try not to push it away.

Try not to make it retreat.

Sometimes we try to ignore it,

We hope it will dissipate.

But times are needed to sit with sadness.

We need to acknowledge it,

Recognize it and say hello old friend.

Thank you for joining me.

Thank you for the lessons you have taught me.

Thank you for the ways in which you have opened my eyes and broken open my heart.

Thank you for the ways in which you have forced me to see with empathy and to care.

Sometimes we need to sit with this feeling and let it wash over us.

Sometimes we need to ask sadness where it came from and where it wants to go.

Sometimes we need to sit with sadness,

Look at it head on,

Recognize how familiar it is,

Acknowledge it,

Accept it and then ask for its retreat.

Just like the tide flows,

We can allow our sadness to come and go and to release it.

We don't need to fear it,

We don't need to hold on to it,

We don't need to let it become our focus,

We don't need to have to explain it.

And just for this moment,

We sit with it,

We greet it.

Maybe it's just come to you this sadness or maybe it's been with you for a long time.

We can welcome this sadness as we welcome a friend.

And we can also say goodbye as we sit here.

So let's ask the sadness where it came from,

Let's ask where it is going,

Telling it kindly that it does not live here.

Thank you for visiting.

Where have you come from?

Where are you going?

Thank you for the lessons you have taught me,

The ways in which you have pulled me into the depths of myself.

I compassionately release you.

Thank you for visiting.

Where have you come from?

Where are you going?

I release you.

Take some moments now to feel this sadness and to feel it lifting,

Pulling away the cords that have bound you.

Feeling the lightness in your heart.

Imagine yourself wrapped in a warm and loving light.

Imagine your heart filled with love.

And when you are ready,

Opening your eyes and rejoining the world feeling lighter and more at ease with your sadness.
