Welcome to this somatic affirmation practice to start building safety in your body.
To begin,
Find a comfortable position.
You can be seated or lying down and I invite you to close your eyes if that feels safe for you and then take a few deep breaths to arrive in your body.
Feel your belly rising and falling.
Feel the breath entering through your nostrils.
This practice is about planting the seeds of safety in your body.
It's not about forcing yourself to believe something that doesn't feel true yet.
It is only about giving your nervous system new information,
About practicing what safety sounds like so your body can begin to recognize it.
And you don't have to believe these words completely in order for this to work.
You just have to be willing to let them in.
So let's begin.
I am safe.
Notice where that lands in your body.
Does your body agree?
Does it resist?
Just notice.
No judgment.
Take a breath.
I am safe.
And let those words settle into your nervous system.
Even if something inside of you argues.
Even if your body tenses.
Just hear the words.
I am safe.
I am safe in this moment.
Right now in this breath.
You are safe.
Feel your body on the chair or the floor being supported.
You are safe in this moment.
And take a slow breath and feel that.
I am safe in this moment.
My body is a safe place to be.
Even if that doesn't feel completely true yet.
Try it on.
My body is a safe place to be.
Notice what happens in your body when you hear those words.
Does something soften?
Does something tighten?
Just notice.
My body is my home.
Not a place you have to escape from.
And not a prison.
A home.
A place where you can rest,
Where you can feel and where you belong.
Breathe into that.
My body is my home.
I am safe in my body.
Feel your feet.
Your legs.
Your hips.
Your belly.
Your chest.
Your arms.
Your throat.
Your face.
Your head.
This body has carried you through everything.
It is safe to be here.
I am safe in my body.
I don't need perfect circumstances to feel safe.
Safety doesn't come from controlling everything outside of you.
It comes from trusting yourself within.
I don't need perfect circumstances to feel safe.
Let that sink in.
What would it feel like if that were true?
Safety is an inside job.
You are building it right now.
With each breath,
With each moment of presence,
You are building safety from within.
Safety is an inside job.
I trust my body's wisdom.
Your body knows things your mind doesn't.
It knows what's safe and what isn't.
It knows what you need.
I trust my body's wisdom.
Feel into that.
What does trust feel like in your body?
Even if it's just a flicker,
Notice it.
My body knows how to protect me.
It has always known.
It has always been working so hard to keep you safe and you can trust it.
My body knows how to protect me.
I listen to my body,
Not override it,
Not force it.
Listen,
Honor and respect.
I listen to my body.
I am building capacity for safety.
Day by day,
Breath by breath,
You are training your nervous system.
You are teaching it that it is safe to relax,
Safe to feel,
Safe to be present.
I am building capacity for safety.
I am safe.
I am whole.
I am here.
All of you is welcome.
The scared parts,
The strong parts,
The uncertain parts,
All of you.
I am safe.
I am whole.
I am here.
Take a deep breath and let that settle into every cell of your body.
I am safe.
I am whole.
I am here.
Notice your body now.
What is different?
Even if it's subtle,
Even if it's small,
What shifted?
These affirmations are seeds.
They need repetition to grow roots.
So return to this practice as often as you need and as often as you can.
Your nervous system is learning and your body is remembering.
You are safe.
You can trust yourself and you are building a home within.
Take one more deep breath and when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
