Music Coming to sit now in a comfortable posture,
Perhaps in a chair or on a cushion,
Sitting upright and relaxed,
Closing your eyes for this practice.
Starting by taking a few deeper breaths into the lungs to collect your attention,
Bring it to your body in this moment.
Feeling the lungs expand on the in-breath and letting any areas of tightness or tension soften as you exhale and breathing them out.
Perhaps noticing the shoulders drop just so,
Allowing the micro muscles around the eyes and the jaw just to soften and relax,
Letting go of what came before this moment,
And just tracking a few breaths as you settle into this moment.
And just taking a few breaths as you settle into this moment.
Just sitting,
Being.
And now bringing to mind yourself walking down a pathway of your choosing,
Just letting your mind create and imagine a beautiful,
Pleasant pathway,
Bringing up the surroundings that most cultivate a sense of presence for you,
A sense of calm,
Peacefulness.
This could be perhaps wooden plank pathway through a rainforest,
Or perhaps cobblestones,
Perhaps sandy beach.
Just letting the mind fully imagine without any straining or just the glorious creativity of your mind.
Just letting the mind fully imagine without any straining or just the glorious creativity that's there to paint a picture in the mind's eye of a radiant,
Pleasant walk.
Noticing the colors that are pleasing,
Perhaps a warm breeze,
Perhaps aromas of flowers,
Or the ocean air.
Just feeling as best you can the aliveness of your senses as you walk this path.
And as you come to the end of the path,
You're going to be able to see the world.
And as you walk this path,
You're going to be able to see the world.
And as you come to the end of the path,
You come to an abode,
A home,
A dwelling,
And you see the doorway,
And you knock on the door,
Press the ringer.
And who should open the door but the you that knows,
The you that travels through time.
You may choose five years,
Ten years,
Or twenty.
Just choosing the first one that comes to mind and seeing yourself greet you in the doorway,
The wiser you,
The elder you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
The older you,
Who's lived on in this life.
And they smile when they see you,
And they invite you to enter,
Perhaps gesturing in some way as they greet you and welcome you,
Offering you tea or water.
And as you sit just observing the room that they live in,
The clothing they wear,
All the while sensing a peacefulness,
A serenity,
A harmony both in this space and in the presence of this wise being.
So And they come now to join you in this cozy little seated area.
And they gaze at you with a deep and kind attention for listening.
And you share with them now what's on your mind.
You share a dilemma and tell them how you're feeling stuck or unsure about something in your life right now.
It could be in a relationship or your career.
Perhaps it's a behavior you're struggling with like addiction,
Self-betrayal.
And not searching hard.
And it's fine if a few things come up,
But choosing one issue on which to focus right now.
And describing this issue to your future self.
And asking them now for some guidance or wisdom that they can bring.
You might ask,
What do I need to know about how to heal,
How to move forward with this concern?
What do I most need to focus on to find peace and healing around this issue?
What do I need to know about how to heal or move forward with this concern?
What do I most need to focus on to find peace and healing around this issue in my life right now?
And you may ask any words,
Any question that most fits for you.
And listening in to your wisest elder self,
Who knows?
Perhaps they answer you with a short sentence,
Perhaps just one word.
Just taking it in without judgment,
But with an open interest and an intrigued attention.
And you thank them for their time and their wisdom,
Their precious guidance.
And before you go,
They offer you one thing,
A symbol,
A talisman,
A token of sorts.
You open the palm of your hand to receive this object as a reminder of your strength,
Of their belief in you,
And you accept this object in your hand.
And you thank them for their time and their wisdom,
Of their wisdom.
And you thank them for their time and their wisdom.
Here,
Always waiting to guide and support you.
I'm saying goodbye and exiting this abode right now.
You leave and you walk back up the path that's surrounded with beauty.
And inviting you now to allow the image of the pathway to dissolve as you focus your awareness on your body breathing.
Aware of the sensations in the body right now,
Perhaps any emotions.
And just observing the natural flow of the breath as it breathes in and out the body right here.
Feeling centered and present in this moment.
Aware of the aliveness that's here and feeling grounded in connection with the earth,
With the life that is here and with your true self,
The essence of who you really are.
The essence of who you really are.
