Welcome to this Introduction to Mantra Meditation.

Let's get comfortable as we begin.

Settle in.

You may be sitting or lying down.

Feel the weight of your body being supported under you,

Noticing your breathing as you pay attention to the breath in and breath out.

Your mind will be less cluttered with distracting thoughts.

Now calm and relaxing,

Just listen to my voice.

So what is a mantra?

Put simply,

It is just a short phrase that you may repeat,

Either aloud or silently in your mind.

It doesn't need to be a Sanskrit phrase like So Hum or Aham Brahmasmi.

A mantra may be any phrase,

Long or short,

In any language,

Which helps you concentrate as you meditate.

You might repeat,

I am a good person,

Or So Hum,

If that works for you.

Any phrase that feels right for you is good enough.

A mantra will help in keeping focus,

Minimizing distracting thoughts,

And helping you relax and restore.

Today we will practice a three-minute mantra meditation.

Repeat a mantra of your choosing.

And even if your mind drifts into other thoughts,

As happens to most of us,

Simply let the thought go,

Without judgment,

And calmly return to the mantra.

Okay,

Let's give this mantra meditation a try,

For three minutes.

You can do this.

I will watch the time as the music continues,

And a soft bell will sound at the end.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

You have joined millions of people on this planet who meditate.

You have joined hundreds,

Perhaps thousands of others who may have been meditating at the same time.

That's amazing energy.

With practice,

You may find meditation helps you feel more calm,

And able to focus on the present moment more clearly.

And by sharing this practice with others,

We can work together to make the world a better place in our mindful thoughts and in our positive interactions with the world.

Thank you for being here today.

Be well,

My friend.
