A gentle healing meditation for anyone with a cold or who is feeling under the weather. In this meditation, I invite you to relax, rest and allow your body to recover. When we're ill we can find it a great challenge to slow down. We try to do too much and end up slowing down our recovery. This meditation is your pause button for those times.

This is a little meditation for anybody that has a cold or feels a bit under the weather.

I actually have a cold right now,

So this might be the most authentic cold meditation you'll hear and I hope it's of benefit.

Start by finding your comfortable meditation posture.

You can lie down on the sofa or on the floor as sometimes it's nice to be on the ground.

I always find getting near to the earth can help the healing process.

And take a nice deep breath in.

Breathing out.

And gently close your eyes.

Give yourself permission to rest.

If you're a bit under the weather or you have a cold,

Your body just wants you to give it a break.

Often our mind has other ideas that we must soldier on,

Battle through,

But this actually means that we'll take longer to recover in the end.

So honouring where you're at,

Bringing some acceptance to being unwell,

Whatever condition your body is in right now.

And be with the sensations of how you feel.

So if your nose is blocked,

Noticing the qualities of your breathing now.

And if your nose is really blocked up,

Breathing through your mouth,

And you can do this with a bit of humour,

A bit of playfulness.

And bring a bit of gratitude to the fact that your immune system is strong and this too will pass.

And also offer yourself some self-kindness,

Because even though our bodies want to rest,

Of course we have responsibilities in daily life,

Our work,

Our families,

All the other commitments we have.

And often we have to keep going,

Even when we're not feeling so great.

So really just inviting you to spend this time just resting,

Not even trying to meditate,

Not trying to work with anything,

Or dress anything,

Or be anything that you're not right now.

Just being with,

In presence,

In awareness,

With a soft touch to however you feel,

With care.

Letting everything fall away,

Your responsibilities,

The things that you haven't been able to do because you're unwell,

The feeling that you have to catch up once you're better.

Letting it all go and allowing yourself to be exactly how you are,

There's nothing lacking,

You're just here and that's enough.

Breathing or lying in presence.

And if you notice any holding on in your body,

In your mind,

You can invite these areas to relax.

So if you notice holding in your body,

Tension in your face,

In your shoulders,

In the pits of your stomach,

Or anywhere else,

Just gently invite these areas to relax and release.

And if you find you're very much caught up in your mind,

Or your body has a certain busyness to it,

You can send a little message to your body and mind that it's okay,

It's okay to rest by gently noticing being breathed,

So you might notice your whole body rising and falling as you breathe in and out.

Breathing in,

Being present with what's here,

Breathing out,

Letting go.

So finding your own way within this practice,

It might just be a sense of noticing the whole of your body rising and falling and that's enough.

There's no doing to be done here,

Simply being in presence and continuing to do this.

It's dangerous.

It sucks.

It sucks.

The plenty's gotуп.

Upznaps and 부 genauso Right?

You You You You And now as we come to the end of this meditation Noticing that your mind might want to start thinking into the future Thinking about all the things that you have to do next So just as you've been doing acknowledging what your mind wants to say Letting those thoughts come Remembering your body has chosen to use its energy for healing And really put yourself first for the rest of the day The Dalai Lama sometimes calls this wise selfishness Feel free to put off daily tasks for another day when you feel better Let go of perfection of pleasing everyone of trying to be a person that you can't be right now Again our minds can jump in and say it's not good enough everything will fall apart But it won't life will continue Now take a nice deep breath in Breathing out And gently open your eyes as we end this meditation You

I have been at home with the flu for 6 days. While I am recovering, I am still sick. I’m not used to being unable to take care of obligations. This brought me some peace, calm and permission to rest.

Thank you, Andy! A wonderfully wise offering with a wee bit of whimsy. The perfect antidote to trying to do too much too soon as I finish recovering from a cold. Thank you for the timely reminders.

So needed this! Had a sore throat the last few days and feeling worn out from the discomfort and just general exhaustion. This meditation really helped me to reframe this time, to use it to rest, that my body is using it's energy to heal, and have gratitude for my immune system. Thank you!

Thank you, Andy. I have a terrible cold and this is just what the doctor and the Dalai Lama ordered. Wise selfishness. Always appreciate your kind efforts and healing abilities.
