Ensure your environment is conducive to relaxation and focus.
You may choose to sit in a chair,
On a cushion,
Or lie down on a mat or in bed.
The key is to be comfortable and yet alert.
Gently bring your awareness to your eyes.
As you allow the eyes to close,
Gently relax the muscles around your eyes.
The eyes work so hard.
Gently allow them to relax and start to release all the muscles in your face.
Drive your awareness down into the upper body,
Noticing the breath,
The movement in the stomach,
In the chest as you breathe in and out.
Notice the out-breath relaxing you just a little.
Allow the flow of the breath and as you exhale,
Release.
With each exhalation,
Releasing,
Letting go,
Letting go,
Letting go.
Noticing how simple this is.
Noticing as you go deeper within,
The muscles of the body relaxing.
Just noticing a gentle and perhaps familiar sensation of heaviness starting to appear.
The heaviness appears as the muscles relax,
And as the muscles relax,
The heaviness appears.
