So,

Settling down into a comfortable position,

Closing the eyes.

For now,

You don't need to follow thoughts.

You don't need to stop them either.

There's no task here.

No mental instruction to carry out.

Just notice that thoughts appear.

And then disappear.

All by themselves.

They arrive on their own.

And they leave on their own.

You are not the thoughts.

You're the space they move through.

And that space doesn't need effort.

It doesn't need attention.

It doesn't need to be managed.

It's already here.

Imagine your thoughts as clouds drifting across a wide night sky.

Some are thin.

Some are heavy.

Some barely form at all.

You don't chase them.

You don't analyse them.

You don't label them.

You simply let them pass.

The sky doesn't try to clear itself.

It doesn't react.

It just allows.

Between one thought and the next,

There's a gap.

A pause.

A moment of quiet.

Rest there.

You don't need to hold that quiet.

You don't need to extend it.

Just notice it.

And let it be enough.

And if another thought comes,

That's fine.

That's what thoughts do.

Let it drift by.

At its own pace.

And return to the quiet space behind it.

Again.

And again.

There's nothing to solve tonight.

Nothing to plan.

Nothing to remember.

The mind can set everything down.

And even the idea of falling asleep can be released.

Sleep happens naturally when you stop trying to reach it.

Let your awareness become soft.

Diffused.

Almost unfocused.

As if the edges of your attention are gently dissolving.

As if you're listening from very far away.

Without needing to hear anything clearly.

Thoughts begin to slow down.

They stretch out.

They lose their urgency.

Some fade halfway through.

Some never fully form.

And if they return,

You don't need to engage.

You don't need to follow them anywhere.

Just drift.

And drift.

And drift.

Resting in the open space where thinking loses its grip.

Where awareness becomes quiet.

Wide.

And still.

Where sleep doesn't need to be invited.

It simply arrives.

And takes over.

So letting go now.

Letting go.

Letting go.

Letting go.

Drifting down into stillness.

Drifting down into peace.

Drifting down into sleep.

Deeper.

And deeper asleep.

Down asleep.
