So,
Sitting comfortably with your feet on the floor and your hands on your lap,
Take a nice gentle deep breath in and as you exhale,
Close your eyes.
Let's start to focus on your breathing.
Notice the flow in and out.
In and down.
And up and out.
Notice the difference in temperature between the in-breath and the out-breath.
And as you rest your awareness,
In particular on the out-breath,
Notice how with each exhalation,
You're slowing down a bit.
As if the muscles are loosening as you breathe out.
Relaxation is not something that you can make yourself do.
It's something that you just allow.
But in this moment,
You can imagine the muscles relaxing as you exhale.
Imagine the muscles relaxing with each out-breath.
And as the muscles relax,
They start to feel a little heavier.
Notice where that heaviness is starting to appear.
Welcome the heaviness.
Imagine it increasing.
The weight of your feet on the floor.
The weight of your hands on your lap.
The weight of your body in the chair.
And with this heaviness comes a re-energising.
As the muscles switch off,
They start to rebuild and re-energise much more efficiently.
And in this stillness,
In this heavy quiet time,
You're building inner strength.
So that curiously,
Even after a short period of eyes closed stillness,
It can often feel as if your batteries have been recharged.
As if you've had a little reboot,
Making it easier for you to go through the day with a sense of mental clarity,
Strong and steady nerves,
And the perfect amount of adrenaline.
So bringing your awareness to your feet and giving them a little stretch.
Bringing your awareness to your hands and fingers and giving them a little stretch.
Taking a deep breath in to awaken the body.
And open your eyes,
Bringing yourself back to the day.
