Often times it's the small, intimate things in life that we tend to overlook. Each breath, heartbeat, and every single process that goes on in our bodies are precious. Take a moment and thank your body in this deeply-enriching exploration of the self.

Let's begin by having you take in a full breath in through the nose and sit up just a little bit taller.

As you exhale through the nose,

Soften the shoulders.

Now relax the jaw and soften the muscles in your face.

Allow gravity to do its thing as you lower your jaw just a half inch or so.

Take a few moments with attention to breath settling a straight upright posture like the bow of a string,

A spine taut but not overly tight.

Allow your belly to soften and go ahead and shift your shoulders back just ever so slightly.

Allow your eyes to remain just slightly open,

Seeing through those eyes yet not fixating on anything in particular.

Have a soft gaze ahead of you and with a steady posture begin to intentionally generate a deep feeling of gratitude for each breath of life that enters your body.

Simply notice the breath moving in and out through the nose.

Each breath is precious for each breath offers you life.

Welcome in a sense of awe and wonder that is the miracle of life itself as you sit with the next four to five cycles of breath.

Now lower your awareness and bring attention to your heart.

See if you can feel the heart beating.

Feel the life force that is gathered in and around your heart,

However subtle.

You are now still aware of breath but also listening to the heart,

Recognizing the miracle of each heartbeat.

Continue to sit with appreciation for this for the next three to four cycles of breath.

As you savor that life giving breath.

You are still aware of the breath and the heartbeat yet allow your awareness to expand to involve your entire physical form.

The aliveness that is your body.

Here it is functioning,

Drawing in oxygen,

Exhaling carbon dioxide.

Here it is your beating heart doing what it does naturally with little or no effort.

Notice just what a miracle you are to be in existence.

To be alive and participating in a human form.

To even be aware of your aliveness.

Simply breathing.

Here in this human body,

In this present moment,

Notice how your state of being is shifting and changing just because you are bringing your awareness to yourself.

You have everything you need to find happiness,

Contentment and joy within.

It often just takes a willingness to shift in awareness.

A willingness to change where your focus lies.

There is infinite capacity within you.

Infinite capacity for awareness and appreciation and infinite capacity to love.

Breath breathing,

Heart beating.

A mind that can analyze and understand or just simply observe.

A mind whose capacity for awareness and growth is unlimited.

A mind with the capacity to notice its true nature is right here,

Right now.

Smile inside with each breath and with each heartbeat.

Invite in love and kindness for this body and this mind of yours.

Remembering you have everything you need to support the miracle that you are.

Resting in gratitude for it all.

And as the mind with its unlimited capacity tries to take you in various directions,

Keep coming back to the wonder of this one breath in and this one breath out.

Feeling the magic of each heartbeat.

Enjoying the aliveness of your body and all the beauty that exists in being fully here,

Now.
