Each phase of the menstrual cycle brings in new wisdom. The bleeding phase of your cycle is a great time to go inwards and notice what your inner wisdom is trying to teach you. Take a few minutes in this menstrual phase to do a meditation followed by a journal practice to notice what your body is telling you.

A meditation for the menstrual phase of your moon cycle.

Find a comfortable seated position or lying down on your back.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale out of your mouth.

Do this two more times.

Now focus on your breath.

Can you make your exhale twice as long as your inhale?

Breathe in for a count of four,

Exhale for a count of eight.

You can do this through your nose if you need a little more grounding at this phase or through your mouth to release extra heat in your body.

If you notice yourself straining to reach the count of eight,

Reduce that.

Maybe you inhale for a count of three,

Exhale for a count of six.

Now bring your awareness to your low belly.

Place a hand there if it feels comfortable.

Breathe into that area and feel your body rise and fall with your breath.

Can you find appreciation right now for your room space?

Slowly drawing your breath with that inhale,

Feeling that belly release and open.

And exhale,

Feel it contract.

Slowly starting to go inwards and noticing what the inner wisdom of your body is trying to tell you right now.

Now with your next exhale,

What do you need to release during this phase of your cycle?

It can be mentally,

Physically.

It can be a thought pattern or habit loop that you're in.

What needs to shed during this menstrual phase?

Now bring your awareness into gratitude.

What is one thing that you're grateful for during this phase of your cycle?

We're going to go through a guided visualization next.

So releasing the answers to all of those questions and settling back into the body.

Maybe taking a nice deep inhale through the nose and open mouth exhale.

And then start to envision yourself growing ruby red roots down through the floorboards,

Through the grass,

Through the dirt,

Through the soil.

The red clay connecting you to the center of the earth.

With your next exhale,

Focus on what you are releasing right now.

Sending down through those ruby red roots,

Through the floorboards,

Through the grass,

The dirt,

The soil,

And the red clay to the center of the earth.

Knowing that Mama Gaia can handle whatever you're releasing and she will compost it for you.

Keep releasing with your exhale,

Sending your tension,

Your troubles,

Your worries down to Mama Gaia to compost and make anew.

Focusing on that exhale,

Focusing on releasing.

Once you feel complete with what you need to release,

Start to focus on your inhale.

And envision a white light streaming up through those ruby red roots,

Up through the red clay,

The soil,

The dirt,

The grass,

And floorboards.

And see it showering around your body.

Seeing this white light as a bubble protecting your energy during this sacred time.

The bubble is protecting your energy and it's reminding you now.

Now is the time to go inwards.

You don't need to go outside of yourself for answers.

Use this sacred time to trust yourself,

Your ideas,

Your body,

And your inner wisdom.

Notice how that lands and what stories might arise.

And don't spin your wheels,

Just notice.

Now place your hands back on your womb space.

And once more,

Think of one more thing that you're grateful for right now in your body during this phase.

And then take a nice deep inhale,

An open mouth exhale releasing the tension.

Slowly bow your chin into your chest and blink your eyes open.

And then maybe you grab your journal and reflect on whatever insights arise for you from today's meditation.
