Welcome to your labor and birth meditation.

This meditation is designed to have playing throughout your surges.

Wherever you are at in your labor I'd like you and your birth partner to take a deep calming breath into the bottom of your belly.

Exhale let it all go.

Take another deep breath in bringing calm and serenity into your body.

Exhale letting it go.

Allowing with each exhale tension to be released from your body.

Calming your mind and settling your thoughts.

Allow each breath to descend your mind away from your thoughts.

Away from your analytical mind.

Labor is not a process to think about or analyze.

Just letting it be.

Surrendering to the experience.

Accepting the experience as it comes and goes.

Start by scanning through your body.

Noticing which muscles are engaged and if they don't need to be to hold you in your position.

Allow them to release.

The muscles in the face can soften.

The shoulders can melt away from the ears.

Maybe even letting the toes unclench and the fingers relax.

Visualizing calm and relaxation pulsing through your body.

Even if it's not actually there.

Even if there's not a cell in your body that feels calm.

Just imagine it.

Imagine the calm surging through your blood with the breath.

Allowing your body to feel relaxed.

With every moment of relaxation our mind can release our beta endorphins.

Clouding our analytical mind.

Softening the sensation of the surges.

Holding a space of calm.

Feeling the endorphins taking over your body and surrendering to that.

Accepting that we don't have to understand the process.

We don't have to know whereabouts you are along the process.

Hold trust that your body knows and your baby knows exactly what to do.

Hold trust in the natural ancient process of birth.

On your next surge that happens,

Feel free to pause the meditation until it starts.

Start by taking a deep inhale into the bottom of your belly.

Feel the side and back ribs all the way up to the collarbones.

Exhale blow out of your mouth slowly letting it go.

Take another deep inhale into the bottom of your belly.

Feel the side and back ribs up to the collarbones.

Exhale letting it go.

Continuing this breath.

Slowing the breath down completely.

Embracing the sensations allowing them to wash over you like a wave.

Not thinking about the sensation.

Not analyzing it.

Surrendering to it.

Allow it to come and go over and over again.

These surges are nothing to hide from or to stop.

Allow the surges to come and go.

Descending your baby through your pelvis.

Opening your cervix with every single surge.

Welcoming each surge.

Allowing it to happen without any resistance or fear towards it.

Now in your break between your surges allow your body to come into a very relaxing pose.

Whether it be laying on your side,

Laying back onto your birth partner.

Allow your body to let go.

Your muscles to disengage.

Turning your thoughts off completely.

Closing your eyes.

Being present with your breath.

Not forcing or counting the breath here.

Just allow it to come and go as it naturally wishes to do so.

Feeling the oxytose and pumping through your body.

Now as the next surge may be building,

Remind yourself it is just temporary.

These surges are coming to birth your baby and once your baby is birthed they will stop.

This will be over and you will have your beautiful baby in your arms.

Breathing deep into your belly.

Filling your whole diaphragm.

Slowly letting the breath go out of your lips.

With each exhale release tension from your body.

Welcome the surge.

Allow your body to move freely as it wishes to do so.

Allow your body to rotate and round.

Allow your pelvis to be molded around baby's head.

And with each break dive into full relaxation.

The aftermath of the beta endorphins pulsing through your body.

A loving connection of the oxytocin.

I'm now gonna read some gentle birth affirmation cards.

I welcome each wave.

I ride each wave.

I am not afraid.

I was born to do this.

My body knows exactly what to do.

I am safe.

My baby will be born at the perfect time.

There is no rush.

There is no guideline to stick to.

There is no manual.

Everybody is different.

Every birth is different.

Trust in your body and in the process to do what it needs to do to birth your baby.

And that is all you need to worry about.

Ride the wave as it comes and goes.

Rest in between and trust.

Your body is opening.

Your cervix is opening.

You've got this mama.
