Welcome.
Go ahead and take a few moments to disconnect from what's going on around you.
Let your surroundings fade so you can fully direct your attention to this visualization.
Relax your body,
Take a deep breath or two,
And drop your gaze or close your eyes,
Whichever feels better to you.
In today's visualization,
We will practice a technique that will help you melt mental or physical tension and turn it into a sense of ease,
Calm,
And peaceful energy.
Let's begin with physical tension.
Bring your awareness to the top of your head and slowly begin to scan downward.
When you find an area of tension or tightness or not quite rightness,
Pause for a moment.
As you pause there,
Breathe deeply,
Fully,
And slowly.
Now imagine this physical tension as a block of ice,
And as you imagine that block of ice,
Keep breathing.
Breathe at a nice,
Slow,
Full pace and sense the hardness of that ice,
That resistance,
The firmness.
And as you continue to breathe into this area of tension or tightness,
Imagine that block of ice beginning to melt.
Keep breathing deeply as you visualize the ice melting into a puddle of water.
As the ice melts,
That tension begins to dissolve,
Begins to soften,
And eventually the ice completely melts into a puddle.
As you continue breathing and focusing on this area of your body with tension or tightness,
That puddle begins to evaporate.
The water begins to change into a gaseous form.
As you continue to breathe,
The puddle eventually evaporates fully,
Taking all of the muscle tension,
The muscle tightness with it as it transforms back into pure energy.
Stay with this area of tension in your body as long as necessary to resolve that firmness and discomfort into ease.
When you're ready,
Scan down your body looking for another area of tension or tightness or not quite rightness.
And when you find it,
Again,
Breathe deeply,
Slowly and fully,
Imagining that area of your body as a block of ice.
That block of ice slowly melts as you breathe into this space,
Holding your attention there.
As you continue breathing,
That ice melts fully into a puddle.
And still breathing deeply and fully,
That puddle begins to evaporate,
Taking the tension and tightness and not quite rightness of that part of your body into the air as the water turns to gas.
Take your time with this process.
Now let's shift from our physical bodies for a moment and bring ourselves into our mental space.
If there's a challenge over which you're ruminating or a past problem or a future fear,
Take a moment to visualize that in front of you,
Whatever that challenge might be,
And then visualize that challenge becoming a block of ice.
And as you breathe slowly,
Deeply and fully,
That block of ice that was your challenge begins to melt into a puddle.
Visualize that challenge now being reflected upward into the sky as it lays in a puddle on the ground.
There's a sense of openness and spaciousness in your mind now that the challenge has been transformed into a different state.
As you continue breathing deeply and fully,
You notice that that puddle begins to shrink.
The sun warms it.
It's beginning to evaporate.
And that challenge that loomed so large in front of you is now getting smaller and smaller as that puddle of water begins to transform itself into pure energy,
Into a gaseous state,
And eventually that challenge evaporates completely.
It doesn't mean that the challenge is resolved,
But perhaps it gives you space in mind for finding a creative solution.
Perhaps it's no longer a large block that stands in your way.
So whether you use this visualization technique for physical discomfort or mental blockage,
In both cases you can begin to minimize your tension by transforming those challenges and discomforts from ice to water to air.
And when you're ready,
Bring this visualization to a close,
Knowing that you can take this technique with you into your day and apply it whenever you'd like.
