Hello,

Welcome to your daily ritual to cultivate receptivity.

Let yourself create a sacred space for your practice today,

Possibly through lighting a candle,

Burning some incense,

Or just letting yourself sit in a space that feels calm and peaceful to you.

And then go ahead and let your eyes come to close.

Turning your attention inward and take a deep breath.

Breathe in through your nose.

And as you exhale,

Feel as though your entire body is sighing out.

Repeat that again.

Breathe in,

Fill up your lungs.

Letting the entire body sigh out,

Releasing stress,

Releasing tension,

Releasing distraction.

Let's do that one more.

Take a complete breath in.

And breathing out,

Softening into this moment.

And then just be with the natural easy flow of your breath coming into your body and out of your body.

Noticing how that breath is flowing through you.

And as you witness the movement of the breath in your body,

Bring attention to one area that feels as though it is flowing freely with the breath.

In an area that is receptive to the movement of the breath.

And then notice also,

Is there an area within your body that seems a bit resistant to moving with the breath?

This place might be tense,

Restricted or holding.

And it just doesn't quite flow as easily with your inhales and your exhales.

Keeping your breath slow and steady and even.

Let go of that focus and just come back to your whole body now.

And feel how your whole body is breathing in.

And feel how your whole body is breathing out.

And as you breathe in,

Can you receive this breath?

Bringing all parts of you into a state of receptivity to receive the nourishment of your inhalation.

And as you breathe out,

Can you feel yourself marinating in that breath,

Drinking it in even more?

Breathing in the oxygen and fully receiving all that it has to offer you.

Breathing in,

Receiving the nourishment of the inhalation.

Exhaling,

Absorbing that nourishment.

Breathing it in fully.

As we work on this very foundational level of simply receiving the nourishment of the breath,

We bring ourselves into a state of receptivity.

And the state of receptivity as we cultivate it here can then come with us throughout the rest of our day.

And we can learn to feel receptive in the moment to other people,

To desires that we have,

To situations that we come in contact with.

Receptivity allows us to remain open.

Receptivity allows us to take in new information,

To take in things that may bring us benefit that we otherwise could have been shut down to.

So as you breathe in and feel yourself truly receiving that breath,

Acknowledge anything else that you want to be in a state of receptivity to.

This can be another person's viewpoints,

This could be receptivity to a heartfelt desire that you have.

Acknowledge what you'd like to be open to receiving,

And as you breathe in,

Imagine that thing,

Or that person,

Or that situation,

Or that energy,

Imagine it flowing in with your in-breath.

Feeling it completely and absorbing it into your being with ease and grace as you exhale.

And for the last few breaths of this practice today,

Let's breathe in love for ourselves.

As you inhale and receive that breath,

Allow the energy of love to travel with your inhalation into your body,

Into your mind,

Into your heart,

And your soul,

And your spirit.

And as you exhale,

Receive this gift,

This blessing of love for all of yourself.

Imagining every cell in your body soaking up this blessing of love,

And especially the parts of you that may be struggling.

Let those parts receive ample love now.

On your next inhalation,

Gently drawing the palms to press at the front of your chest.

Taking one last breath in and out,

Honoring this state of receptivity,

Honoring this moment,

Honoring this gift of love that you just received into yourself.

Have a beautiful rest of your day.

Thank you for joining me.

This brings to mind a quote by Mary Burmeister, founder of Jin Shin Jyutsu. She says, β€œWe come into the world with an exhalation, to clear and empty, so that we can receive. We never β€˜take’ a breath. We receive a breath.” This meditation is a beautiful reminder to slow down and come into presence, into the very breath that we breathe, so that we may receive and reciprocate the gifts that life has to offer. A wonderfully expansive way to start the day. Thank you so much for sharing. Namaste πŸ™
