Welcome to the Spiritual Fit Yoga Podcast,
Where we explore yoga,
Meditation,
And soul wisdom for real life.
I'm your host,
Amelia Andalion.
Take a deep breath,
And let's drop in.
Take a big inhale,
And a slow releasing exhale.
Today's episode is all about letting go,
Energetically,
Emotionally,
And spiritually,
As we approach the end of the year.
In yoga philosophy,
We call releasing,
Unclenching,
Aparigraha,
Which is non-grasping.
It asks us to gently unclench our fists from the things we're holding that no longer support us.
Maybe you're holding an old story,
An inner critic voice,
A disappointing moment,
A relationship pattern,
A belief about who you should be.
Letting go isn't always dramatic.
Sometimes it's soft.
Sometimes it's a slow exhale.
Sometimes it's choosing again.
Take a breath in.
Open the mouth,
Sigh.
Empty out that breath.
Take a couple more breaths as you inhale from the low belly to the mid-belly,
All the way up into the collarbones,
Filling up,
Filling up,
And gently,
Slowly exhaling,
Releasing from the top to the bottom,
Squeezing out all that air.
Let it go.
Feel the lungs expand.
Feel the ribcages,
Those bones spread apart.
And slowly watch the body release that breath,
Empty,
And let it go.
Close your eyes if you can.
Imagine you're holding a stone in your hand,
Something you've carried all year.
Feel its weight.
Feel its texture,
The way it pulls on your energy.
Now,
With your exhale,
Gently open your hand and let the stone fall away.
Feel the release in your body.
Ask yourself if you're holding onto anger or resentment,
Something that feels wet,
Something that creates suffering and struggle.
Now,
Feel this in your hand,
And the tighter that you hold onto it,
Feel the heat as if you're holding onto a hot piece of coal.
The more you hold onto the anger,
The more you hold onto the resentment,
The only pain it's really causing is towards yourself.
Imagine yourself tossing this into a canyon,
Opening the palm,
Releasing it,
Letting go,
Letting go of the heat,
Letting go of the anger,
Letting go of the resentment,
Letting go of that thing so that it no longer is causing you pain and suffering.
Let it go.
Sometimes when we're holding onto something,
We're unable to forgive,
Or we're holding on and harboring grudges.
In the end,
Really,
The only person that is hurting is yourself.
By letting it go,
By tossing that hot coal into the canyon,
You're choosing peace over resentment,
Choosing peace over the anger,
Choosing peace over holding onto old grudges.
Unclench your fists.
Release that hot coal and let it go.
Letting go creates space,
Space for joy,
Space for rest,
Space for who you are becoming.
You don't have to release everything today.
Just consider releasing one thing.
What are you ready,
Even a little bit,
To release before the year ends?
Repeat this meditation as often as you need,
Practicing Aparigraha,
Non-grasping,
Taking this time to unclench,
To open those fists.
Letting go and inviting in freedom from suffering.
Acknowledge yourself for gently opening your hand,
Releasing and letting go.
See you tomorrow for our next episode.
