Our lives face a barrage of soundbites, memes, headlines, and misinformation. Our minds create stories from them. If you have tension in interpersonal relationships or would call yourself an overthinker, take this time to explore where you've filled in the gaps of information without reality-based facts about a situation.

Hello and welcome to this meditation on Vibharyayana.

This is part of Pentangeli s sutras,

But it s something that s affecting the world around us whether or not you study yoga or any kind of meditation at all.

This is definitely a field of study where everybody can benefit from becoming more aware of what our minds create,

The stories that we create.

Find yourself sitting in a comfortable place where you are not likely to be disturbed.

Allow yourself to feel supported by what s beneath you.

Allow your spine to decompress and feel long.

Notice the position of your chin in space.

You might have to lift your head up off of a pillow and tuck your chin and bring your head back down.

If you re sitting up,

Then again notice where your chin is and perhaps you need to lower it and pull it back more so that your neck is long and extended.

Let s get into your thoughts.

How many times during the day do you think that you have no control over your thoughts,

Especially if you are a person who tries to meditate and you tell yourself,

I can t do this.

I keep thinking,

My brain won t stop,

It won t turn off.

Those are unconscious thoughts rather than creative and mindful thinking.

What happens with our thoughts even when we are trying to be aware and logical is that sometimes we don t have enough information.

Our mind can play tricks on us with our senses.

When we talk about fear,

It s a snake,

Not a stick.

But no,

It really is a stick in the grass.

When our brains create these stories,

It can drum up fear,

Insecurity,

Anxiety,

And tension.

So that s one area where we have misunderstandings.

It s what our senses are telling us and we haven t thought them through.

Another area where our brains can take off with stories is when we infer something,

Trying to be logical about it,

But we really don t have enough facts.

This is something that we see in our interpersonal relationships.

People think that they know what the other person means and a lot of that is inferring,

But they really don t have all the facts of a situation.

Maybe you get cut off from anger or time and you don t have the ability to explore further into the conversation or the message.

This is something the internet is really bad about.

We have to be aware that things are reduced to sound bites and memes and quotes taken out of context.

So when we try to be logical about something but don t have all the facts,

It s another opportunity for our brains to start making up stories that increase our fear.

Another area where our minds can do their own thing unconsciously is when we rely on someone else s testimony or explanations and they,

In fact,

Do not have all the facts.

So then our brains take that little bit of information,

That bit of incorrect information,

And it starts to go on its own journey in our imaginations,

In our minds,

Making things even more fearful,

Creating more tension,

Creating more suffering.

Utilizing this time,

Allow yourself to look inward,

Look deeper,

Starting to move from your sensing body,

Your physical body,

Letting go of those signals,

Moving deeper.

Where do you see your mind?

What is your emotion?

Ask yourself what am I feeling right now?

And as you move deeper still,

Moving from your mind and emotions into your own intuition,

You might call it your gut instinct or your third eye.

What is your intuition telling you about the story?

Is the story untrue?

Is the story exaggerated?

You move deeper still as you leave your intuition and open the door to your true self,

Finding a way past the suffering through all that fear,

Embracing openness to new information.

What does your true self look like?

What does your true self think about the situation?

What kind of action does your true self want to take?

Your true self does not want you to suffer,

He does not want you to have thoughts filled with misperceptions.

Your true self embraces knowledge and wisdom and utilizing all that's there for you,

Waiting for you,

You can take it with you.

Allow yourself to be more aware and more conscious in your thoughts as you journey back.

You meet your intuition with a refreshed perspective.

You start to move back into your emotions,

Noticing that the fear was unjustified and the anxiety was based on stories.

As you breathe,

All that energy moving from your fingers to your toes around the body,

Weaving its way through the bones and soft tissue and fueling your brain with consciousness.

You can start to awaken and welcome your physical self and your senses into reality,

A world where you can control your thoughts,

Where you don't have to live in constant fear of things that you can't see of another person,

A stranger or someone you know.

Let that truth guide you into conscious ethical action.

Now's a good time to start moving through your body,

Taking a big long stretch from fingers to toes and welcome yourself back.

Om Shanti,

Peace to you and may you have a blessed day.

Om Shanti,

Peace to you and may you have a blessed day.

Om Shanti,

Peace to you and may you have a blessed day.

This actually bought up a beautiful memory of a safe space as a child where I was celebrated. Thank you.
