Hi Mama,

Welcome to this guided meditation to help you feel more positive and supported after endless nights of sleep deprivation.

This guided session is specifically written from the heart,

From one Mama to another,

To help you navigate your new life as a mother.

As we begin this practice,

Let's take a moment to arrive and to congratulate ourselves in being here,

That we're actually taking this time to be present,

To take time out for our self-care,

And to go inside,

Into our own lives.

Allow yourself to settle in now,

Feeling the support of Mother Earth beneath you,

Feeling that gravitational pull that is anchoring you during your practice.

Let's inhale through the nose and slowly exhale.

Good,

Let's do that again.

Inhaling a little deeper and exhaling a little slower.

Good,

As you feel relaxation slowly coming over you,

Give yourself permission to set everything aside for a moment,

Letting go of tension and just let it come over you,

Whatever comes up for you,

Just accepting what is arising,

Welcoming feelings,

Emotions,

Sensations,

And just let it flow.

You are doing an incredible job Mama,

Just allowing yourself to breathe naturally,

Breathing in and breathing out,

Relaxing a little more with each breath.

Raising newborn children is an incredibly tough and overwhelming time,

Especially in the first six months.

The relentless cycle of settling,

Feeding,

Nappy changing and resettling.

A period filled with intense joy,

An astonishing amount of love and a whole new meaning of sleep deprivation.

Many parents with newborn children don't get enough sleep and the sleep that they do get is fragmented,

Interrupting natural sleep cycles of light sleep,

REM and deep sleep,

Leaving you feeling completely exhausted.

The effects of sleep deprivation go far beyond a tired body,

It also impacts how you think,

What you feel,

How you cope and how you regulate your emotions.

So if you have been feeling exhausted,

Emotional,

Overwhelmed and stretched beyond your limits,

You are not alone.

Being a mom,

I just know how tough it is to keep your own cup full when you have a newborn.

All your time and attention goes to your little one and when they're finally down for a sleep,

You have this long list of things to do.

A household to do,

A partner to support and then all of a sudden you notice that your own needs are at the bottom of the list.

But by being here in this meditation,

You have just prioritized your needs.

So well done mama,

You are doing great.

Remember that keeping your own cup full is essential in caring for your baby.

So let's settle into this meditation a little deeper.

Bring your awareness to your shoulders and check in with yourself to see if you are holding any tension here.

Often we hold tension without being aware of it.

Good.

As you exhale,

Release any tension from your shoulders.

Then as you are becoming more relaxed,

Shift your awareness to the face.

Often when our eyes are shut,

We tend to press the eyelids together.

So see if you can soften all those little muscles around your eyes now.

Lips part.

Allow your jaw to be soft and relax your tongue in the base of the palate.

Feel yourself sink deeper into relaxation,

Welcoming this feeling of heaviness in the body.

Now imagine that there is a beautiful white healing light surrounding your entire being,

From the tips of your toes all the way to the crown of your head.

Your entire being.

Your entire being is beaming with light.

As you inhale,

You draw this light into your body.

And as you exhale,

You breathe out all your worries.

And as you inhale,

You draw this light deeper into your body,

Into your cells,

Into your organs,

Into your bloodstream,

Into your heart,

Rejuvenating your being,

Making you feel at ease,

At peace,

Making you feel supported,

Calm and relaxed.

You are doing a great job,

Mama.

Allow yourself now to let go of any unrelenting standards that you are putting on yourself.

Prioritize self-care.

Allow yourself to have a nap.

Allow yourself to meditate.

And allow yourself to have a really long shower and wash your hair.

You are important.

You are worth it.

You are wonderful and completely perfect as you are.

The mother of your baby.

The best parent for your little one.

Breathing in and breathing out.

You can come back to this meditation as many times as you need to,

To refill your own cup,

So that you can continue to be the best version of yourself.

Patient,

Wonderful,

Loving,

Caring and guided by your intuition.

Great job,

Mama.

Now gently bring your awareness back to the room.

Wiggle your fingers and when you are ready,

Open your eyes.

Thank you for listening.

I hope you enjoyed this meditation.
