Hello and welcome to this practice of bone breathing.

Bone breathing is a Taoist practice that can support us as we age.

It can help us build a resilient immune system as blood cells are co-created within our bones,

Within our bone marrow.

Our breathing affects us on many levels,

Conscious and unconscious.

So during this practice we will breathe into our bones to create radiant health and vitality.

Find a comfortable way to receive this practice.

You might be seated on a meditation cushion,

You could be laying down on your bed,

You might even be sitting on a train or a bus.

Sense the space that you find yourself in and now rest your body down into support.

On your next exhalation allow the muscles of your body to rest down into the surface that is beneath you and then begin to turn your attention to your breath.

Noticing how you're breathing naturally right at this moment.

Notice the feel and the flow of your breath.

Notice the depth and the tempo of your breathing.

Begin to cultivate a long,

Slow,

Smooth breath in followed by a long,

Slow,

Smooth breath out.

Practice this a few times,

Staying very attentive to the feeling of breathing deeply,

Slowly and smoothly and then settle your body down,

Nestle it down a little more fully into support and sense the earth beneath you.

Sense the Muladhara,

Earth energy within Mother Earth,

Within the ground and sense it as an energy,

A vapor,

An alchemy moving upward through the earth and into your bones.

Sense it rising and sense your body receiving this boundless,

Nourishing,

Supportive energy from Mother Earth.

Feel and sense this energy moving into the bones of your head and face.

Slow,

Smooth,

Deep breath in,

Slow,

Smooth,

Deep breath out.

Sense the breath within the bones of your skull,

Your cheeks,

Your jaw bones,

Your teeth and on your inhalation sense the bones gently spreading,

Creating a sense of spaciousness and on your exhale sense the bones settling back into their rightful place.

Inhale and sense spaciousness within the bones of your head and your face,

Your ears and your throat and on your exhale allow the bones of your head and face to settle,

Soften and release.

Allow your tongue to settle in your mouth,

Allow your attention to move to the back of your neck,

The sides of your throat and the front of your throat and move deeply in toward the spinal column,

Sensing the bones in your neck,

Connecting your spine with your head and breathe into those bones.

Sense the cushions between the bones,

Sense the bones themselves and as you exhale allow your awareness to glide downward through the rest of your spinal column to your sacrum and let your next slow long inhalation glide up from the tip of the tail through the lumbar,

Thoracic and cervical areas of the spine.

Allow your feeling awareness to get right in touch with the feeling and sensation within the spinal column.

As you exhale awareness slides down,

On your inhale awareness slides its way back up.

Feel your way with your breath.

At the end of your next inhalation allow your to pull in the back of your neck and out into the shoulder girdle.

Feel your way along the ridges of the shoulders towards the joints of your shoulders and feel the head of your upper arm bone connecting to the shoulder joint itself.

Sense this joint capsule and breathe here and then sense into both upper arm bones and let your attention go in and in and in to your upper arm bones.

Feeling your way into the marrow of these bones.

Feeling your way to the production of red and white blood cells.

Feeling your way along the upper arm bones to the elbow joints.

The forearms into the joints of the wrists and out into the bones of your hands and your fingers.

Letting your awareness slip and slide up and down those finger bones,

Up and down your thumb bones.

Inhaling and drawing your attention from the tips of the thumbs,

Down along the thumbs all the way to the wrist.

Inhaling from the tip of each index finger,

All the way along the bones of this finger into the hand.

The middle finger.

The ring finger,

Letting your attention land at the tip of the ring finger and glide on the inhalation all the way to the wrists and the tip of the little finger.

And then feel your fingers and your hands and your arms breathing all the way to your shoulders.

Feel deep into the bone marrow,

Deep into the nourishing support that these arm bones offer you on a daily basis.

And then inhale your way up to your collarbones,

Your shoulder blades.

And feel your collarbones and shoulder blades floating within your body.

Your breastbone and your ribcage,

All bones expanding 360 degrees.

Inhale expanding,

Exhaling and gently and softly contracting.

Same with those long slow breaths in,

Long slow smooth breaths out.

Sensing the ribcage connecting to spinal column and drifting your way down to your pelvis.

Feeling deep into the bones of the pelvis,

Into the pubic bone,

Everything expanding and gently softening.

Your body breathing,

Bones breathing.

Sensing your way out into the hip joints and feeling that place where the head of your femur bone,

Your upper leg bone sits right in that hip socket.

Sensing your nourishing breath,

Nourishing both hip joints.

And then go deep into those upper leg bones,

Deep into the marrow factory.

Inhaling and exhaling your way down to the joints of your knees.

Inhaling and exhaling your way down your lower leg bones to your ankles.

And then out into the bones of your feet,

Your toes.

And let your attention sit at the tip of your toes.

And let your attention sit at the tip of the big toes and then inhale and draw your breath and your awareness from the tip of the big toe to the center of the ankle joint,

The tip of the index toe,

All the way through the foot,

The middle toe,

The ring toe and the little toe.

Sense the heel of each foot breathing and now drift,

Drift your awareness like a beautiful vapor into the field of your entire bone body.

Sensing mother earth beneath you.

Filling your bones with a great sense of grounding,

Nourishment and connection.

Rest here now,

Allowing your body to receive bone healing.

Bone breathing,

Bone healing.

Long,

Slow,

Smooth breaths in and out.

So you can stay here for as long as you feel to,

Breathing into your bones and allowing the earth to breathe itself into you.

Maybe taking a moment to make a healing wish for yourself.

And now to finish,

I've found a little quote,

To succeed in life you need three things.

A wishbone,

A backbone and a funny bone.

Thank you for bone breathing with me.

Thank you and namaste.

Calm, clear energy that cradled me through each skeletal structure and joint at just the right pace. Highly recommend for those with bone pain, fractures or deterioration. 🙏💫
