Welcome.
This sacred verse is about the journey of self-discovery,
The shedding of illusions,
The embracing of our humanity,
And the relief that comes when we stop trying to be who we think we should be.
I invite you to sit back and listen.
Simply let the words remind you that becoming yourself is not about perfection but about truth.
My morning seat is quiet,
The tea steaming notebook ready.
Gazing at my tree,
My breath is steady.
My people will wake soon but they're not here now.
This is my time.
These words are my vow.
To dive under the surface of everyday life.
To ask the big questions.
To seek the source of my strife.
Understanding my nature and forgiving it too.
Loving myself is knowing myself.
It's not something I've always knew.
I've had an image of myself,
What I want people to see.
Projecting an expression of who I wanted to be.
Trouble comes,
I've learned,
When we lose track of the truth.
Projections are illusions,
We become frozen in youth.
Stuck in our desires of how we want things to be,
We hang tight to life while it shakes us free.
Melting the structures,
Both physical and mental,
That housed false identities.
This process,
Essential.
Like a phoenix rising,
You realize one structure stands.
Your spiritual nature.
Your soul understands.
The process of becoming unapologetically you can be messy and painful.
All of this is true.
And pain is a teacher.
Wisdom swells with our tears as we rise in the ashes of the fires of our fears.
We are stripped in falsehood,
No longer immersed in delusion.
We see life more clearly,
Outgrown our confusion.
Of how to love ourselves truly,
No more faking and pretending.
To tend to our wounds,
Our acceptance is our mending.
